mouseketab.....Carol 1,261
Here are few pics of my afternoon on the USS Lexington Museum in Corpus Christi, TX I've been here for 4 weeks, and we finally finished up our work this morning, so I had this afternoon to kill. I only had my phone, so this was not the usual snap happy day for me And that's it. There are about 5 self-guided tours through the ship, and a couple of side tours off of the main tours. (I skipped climbing all the way up to the brindge, and climbing all the way down to the engine room) and a 3D movie to watch. You could probably spend a very long day there if you read everything, but I just kinda wandered through. It is definitely a ship, the ladders to go to the different decks are very steep, and lots of high door bottoms to lift your legs over. And for those wondering, it was 13.95 for adults, and 3.50 to park.

ftwildernessguy 778
Considering prices today, that is somewhat of a bargain. I would love to see an aircraft carrier someday.

mouseketab.....Carol 1,261
Oh, I forgot to mention, there is a Disney connection. There were some references to the movie "Pearl Harbor" on the ship. I think they filmed some of the movie there, and they had some "wooden deck" that Disney built to use for the filming. Live4FW 30
I have spent several weekends with scouts on the USS Yorktown in Charleston and the USS Alabama in Mobile. The Lex looks like it would be a neat trip. Have to put it on my list. Although I really enjoyed visiting these ships, I have no interest in ever spending the night on one again....LOL

mouseketab.....Carol 1,261
They have overnighters on the Lexington also. As I was leaving, there were several groups outside waiting to board for their overnighter. Nicki aka Rebelstand

devores 382
Very interesting. Takes me back to the time I spent stationed on the USS Nimitz. Something I loved doing, but never want to do again. Those high door bottoms are affectionately called knee bangers. When you're running to your station during drills and forget to step up, you will know why they are called that.

GaDawgFan.....Kelly 799
My husband spent a few years on the George Washington. I don't think he'd be as interested in that tour as I would be. LOL
Tri-Circle-D 2,059
Great mini report, Carol. I toured the Lexington many moons ago when it was docked in Pensacola. It didn't have all those fancy displays that your photos show, but it was still an amazing thing to see. Makes you proud to be an American. TCD
