alexwyattmommy 181
The blonde one is definitely cuter. Did you think the fox's nose was going to honk? And apparently you guys like Borden's. LOLI love the castle going from daytime to nighttime. Is that the seagull from The Rescuers? I wonder if Miss Bianca was ever a meet and greet character. The Skyway photo is cool. DaveInTN 3,247
What an awesome article TCD! Did you see mint julep on the menu? Isn't that the same alcoholic drink they sell at the Kentucky Derby? If so, I thought they never sold alcohol in the MK prior to BOG. Hmmmm..... Was probably the same recipe as this: http://www.food.com/recipe/disneylands-mint-julep-non-alcoholic-148006
DaveInTN 3,247
Do you have any pics of the swan boats? Not sure if they ran in the winter months, but I've always found them interesting.
ftwildernessguy 778
I see Joe Biden and George McGovern in this photo. These pictures really do span several years.

AC in A2......Aaron 693
Look! Up in the sky. Tinker-Bill's Dad!!! Not true. But it would be funny if I had a picture of Tinker-Bill's ancestor in the 1970s.

The Skyway is the one thing i have ridden that my kids never will. Are you sure there aren't others? I am about to reveal another that you may have experienced if you were there for the skyway..... Was probably the same recipe as this: http://www.food.com/recipe/disneylands-mint-julep-non-alcoholic-148006 Wow. Good find. That makes more sense. Do you have any pics of the swan boats? Not sure if they ran in the winter months, but I've always found them interesting. I do not have Swan boat pics in the slides, but they may be in the 35mm pics at Mr and Mrs C's place. AC in A2......Aaron 693
Marion looks a little pissed. AC in A2......Aaron 693
Tell the truth, Aaron, you had to Google George McGovern to see who he was. I was aware he lost to Tricky Dick in 72. I pride myself on knowing a bit of history; even if every generation after mine and many in mine would rather play X-Box. Tri-Circle-D 2,059
I am not sure about the big bird. Perhaps an elder Fiend can let us know. That is an excellent guess though! That bird is from the Disney movie The Rescuers, which was released in 1977. His name is Orville. In the sequel, The Rescuers Down Under, Orville was replaced by his brother, Wilbur. The guy who provided the voice for Orville was retired. Wilbur's voice was provided by the late John Candy. (Do you see what they did there with those names?) I never saw either of these movies until I watched them on VHS with my kids. They're not bad. TCD
DaveInTN 3,247
So it is Marion Ross or Lucille Ball? If it is Mrs C, then the whole "you can't be in the show tonight" makes no sense. If it is Lucy, then say that quote with a Cuban accent....which I guess still makes no sense coming from George McGovern. Maybe it's time to move this trip report along... Tri-Circle-D 2,059
Is that the seagull from The Rescuers? I wonder if Miss Bianca was ever a meet and greet character. The bird is an albatross. The seagull is from the Little Mermaid. Miss Bianca, was, in fact, a meet and greet character: http://www.charactercentral.net/Blog.aspx?BlogEntryId=408 Today is the 35th Birthday of the two little mice from The Rescuers, Bernard and Bianca!Since 1977 they have made appearances at the Disney Parks worldwide, but sadly recently have fallen into somewhat obscurity, though you can still meet them in Tokyo Disneyland regularly. So, Happy 35th Birthday Bernard and Bianca! AC in A2......Aaron 693
It is time to get this rolling again. And what better way to start: I believe that is a small character parade and band walking through the castle. Step aside. Please step aside. That was cool! A parade that goes through the castle? And the public was not forced behind ropes and such first? It was a different time then. There were less DBs at WDW I think too. They could get away with characters walking around, seemingly free roaming and unfettered then. Not anymore. Okay, now that the rodent royalty brigade has made its way through we can move on: For those of you that have never been to WDW prior to New Fantasyland, the following pics are what I like to call, "Old Dumbo": Next up. We have a real treat. We head to the entrance area for "New Fantasyland." Only it was called something else in the 1970s. That was cool! I loved seeing those pics when I dug these out and watched them on the projector! Next up.......is an oldie. But it's every fiends fave. So we have to include the pics. Okay. Maybe it's not every fiend's fave. In the next update we have a couple more blasts from the past that I remember being just awesome as a little guy.

alexwyattmommy 181
Albatross, that makes more sense then a seagull. Pretty cool that both mice were meet and greet characters.
