You know, back when there was actually wilderness at Fort Wilderness. TCDI am hoping there is more of the old Fort in the last three reels. I will get back to updating this tomorrow. Those 20k leagues pics are awesome! I love seeing what has changed....but also what is the same. Very fun to look through these. Too bad the Speedway is about 1/3 the length is was back then. DaveInTN 3,247
Wow! so much to comment on. I like seeing the last scene of Pirates without Jack Sparrow. There seemed to be a lot more Country Bears in that Jamboree than there are today. And Pepsi sponsored it? Haunted Mansion looks so "sunny" compared to today....the vegetation seems to have grown in quite a bit. I was hoping for a HOP inside pic with Reagan front and center. Great pictures! Tri-Circle-D 2,059
I'm really enjoying the blast from the past, Aaron. This photo is cool- the Sunshine Pavilion with no carpet ride blocking the view: But what is that? A pumpkin on a stick? I also think the scene in Pirates has the men chasing the ladies. Which is how Walt wanted it, before the days of political correctness came along and made them swap the men with the ladies. I'm sorry to say this, but a lot of the dark ride photos (Pirates and HM) make it appear that your family friend was one of "those people" who used a flash to take photos on the dark rides. BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
Cool stuff!!! Another difference I notice is no hidden/intentional/deliberate Mickey on the table in the ballroom scene at HM. The Troll
momof3kids-Yvonne 596
Caught back up.Really wish there was still a backlot tour. DD14 would have loved that. I showed her your picture of the Golden Girl house. She is a Golden Girls fan.
dblr....Rennie 224
Also in POC the pirate was still chasing the girl, I think it's the other way around now, I also think it was a political correct reason they changed it.

I think the "sunny"ness has another explanation.I'm really enjoying the blast from the past, Aaron. This photo is cool- the Sunshine Pavilion with no carpet ride blocking the view: But what is that? I'm sorry to say this, but a lot of the dark ride photos (Pirates and HM) make it appear that your family friend was one of "those people" who used a flash to take photos on the dark rides. TCD I am not sure about the pumpkin. I don't think that was around Halloween at all. The men are definitely chasing the ladies. I was wondering who would notice that. As far as the pics, I distinctly remember gift shops selling packs of dark ride slides that looked much better than any picture you could take with the cameras of the time. I am wondering if those slides were purchased? Cool stuff!!! Another difference I notice is no hidden/intentional/deliberate Mickey on the table in the ballroom scene at HM. Thanks Mo. How do you know it wasn't just hidden better back then? :)Caught back up.Really wish there was still a backlot tour. DD14 would have loved that. I showed her your picture of the Golden Girl house. She is a Golden Girls fan. I liked the backlot tour back when, but if they were to keep it, they would have needed to update it with some new stuff too. Also in POC the pirate was still chasing the girl, I think it's the other way around now, I also think it was a political correct reason they changed it. Kudos to you for noticing that too. AC in A2......Aaron 693
How about some more Magic Kingdom? First, I need to let you know something. I have now looked at the last three reels. Jackpot! There will be some awesome Fort stuff coming your way before this report ends. We will build up to that. Alas, I did not find any more River Country pics, which is what I really wanted to see. But for you Fort aficionados, you will not be disappointed. At least I hope. It will be a great supplement to the Fort stuff already included in the first part of this TR. On to the additional MK pics...... And right away, we will have a real treat of a pic. Do you know what this is? That is a Mike Fink keel boat! It was an original attraction in 1971 and closed sometime in the mid-90s I believe. Do you see the name on the Fort? Check this family giving the photographer the old school stinkeye: I thought that was funny. I zoomed in on them in prior pic. That was a short update I know. Hopefully I will be back to give you more later. I didn't want to leave you hanging so there you go. BradyBzLyn...Mo

DaveInTN 3,247
Nice to see the original name on the Liberty Belle. I think it's stupid that they renamed it....even if they did put his name on a ferry.

AC in A2......Aaron 693
Old School Fantasyland is up next. Another group of photos that is a total blast from the past: 20,000 Leagues is now gone and New Fantasyland is on top of it's footprint. Also gone to make room for New FantasyLand is Toontown. Before it was called Toontown it was known as both Mickey's StarLand and Mickey's BirthdayLand. Here is some of that history: Is he doing Pluto doggie doo duty? Tri-Circle-D 2,059
I agree with GDF's observation that it's a rare thing to see so many photos of buildings and attractions instead of family snapshots. Whoever took these photos wasn't the typical tourist taking family photos. There sure are a lot of castle photos! It's interesting to see the old hub and Rose Garden, and all of the nice landscaping. That's all been ripped up and paved over (or covered with fake grass) now. I think they failed by not including Mickey and Minnie's houses in the New Fantasyland area. My kids always loved to visit those houses. TCD
