DaveInTN 3,247
I'm not a fan of foam in my food. It sure seems to be all the rage in fancy restaurants, though. To me, foam is a nasty byproduct that should be skimmed off.
alexwyattmommy 181
I don't understand foam on food either. The only foam I liked is what was created by pouring root beer over vanilla ice cream.

h2odivers...Ray 952
BEER! The foam that's made when pouring a lovely beer into a glass.
h2odivers...Ray 952
Food looks awesome. I might have to try it. I better start saving my money so I can afford it. $29 for soup. Wow!I've only eaten a crepe or two in France.
BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
I'm on the fence about foam on my food. Haven't had it often enough to make up my mind.i would love to try this place some day. And hey, it won't cost me all that much, as DH boycotts most French things (especially the food) and I'll probably be going by myself!BTW this is quite ironic given my first name is Monique and my maiden name actually has a ç in it. :rofl2:
DaveInTN 3,247
Le Foam De Yuck. That's French for Foam SMB.

BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
I looooove oxtail. I actually make it at home occasionally.Gotta admit - mine doesn't look anything like that one.

I don't think there's a more French name than my maiden name... except maybe François McFrenchy French
shoreline99 137
**Bump** Anyone have any recent dining reviews of Monsieur Paul's?
BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
Check back with me after October 30th. Ok sorry, that's probably not helpful... I couldn't find anything more current from the usual sources. There's some stuff on Trip Advisor - nothing elaborate in terms of reviews, but a bunch are very current...http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g34515-d3754978-Reviews-Monsieur_Paul-Orlando_Florida.html
shoreline99 137
We'll be there before then. We're two weekends ahead of you
BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
I expect a full report! :)
shoreline99 137
We'll see. I'm still not sure if we'll actually go to MP's. We've got reservations at Flying Fish as well that weekend, I'd rather eat there personally (and it's food and wine, who really needs dinner).
PureTcrazy...rita 380
We have been talking about trying it out. I'll post if we do!
BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
...and it's food and wine, who really needs dinner). Yep, we keep going back to that too. But I've been wanting to try MP for a while and this time when I mentioned it, DH did not automatically roll his eyes and sigh, so I booked it immediately. We have been talking about trying it out. I'll post if we do! Ooh - please do, Rita!
BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
I just realized I never posted about our experience here in October. In a nutshell, it may have been the best meal I've had on Disney property, and is in the top 5 meals I've had anywhere. Atmosphere wise, it's very quiet and calm up there - a pretty stark contrast to the Epcot hustle and bustle below, and in particular Chef de France downstairs, which tends to pretty loud and busy. DH was concerned it would be too "frou frou" and he'd feel awkward around all those French people (and um yes, he knows my maiden name is Provençal - LOL!) It was not at all frou frou and our waitress was great. Nothing felt fussy and the pace was leisurely and not at all rushed. The menu here changes more frequently than other WDW restaurants, with a few favorites that stick around. I started with the escargot. They were melt-in-your mouth delicious, and the "foam" was super flavorful even though it pretty much evaporated in your mouth. DH started with the tartare. If you like tartare in general (we both do), you'd love this. DH got the snapper in potato scales. Flaky, delicious fish cooked perfectly, and the only thing that sauce needed was a straw. And this, my friends, is the single best duck breast I've ever had in my entire life. I've never had duck breast served medium like this, but it was perfect. It was so tender you could cut it with a fork and it melted in your mouth. The skin was perfectly roasted and delicious and not at all greasy. I'd give my pinky toe for this right now. Seriously. This was my coffee - it had alcohol in it (I forget what exactly) and was practically dessert all by itself. But because actual dessert was called for even though I rarely order it, there was this - the most chocolate-y delicious cake EVAH. This is how the menu describes it, "Warm chocolate and almond cake with raspberry coulis in the center, hazelnut crust, hazelnut ice cream" - oh and that ice cream? *swoon* I'm guessing it's from the shop downstairs, or at least it's as delicious as the ice cream I've had from there. All in all it was an amazing meal. Also probably the most expensive meal we've sprung for at WDW but totally worth it. If the budget ever allows, I would absolutely go back. djsamuel
djsamuel 322
My wife and daughter ate there in January. They loved it. Had a table next to the window, like it seems you did, and enjoyed watching the fireworks. My daughter forced my wife to try the truffle soup and she said it was amazing, (but VERY expensive). Glad you enjoyed it as well.

Yeah, this definitely not a budget-friendly dining option. LOL But if you can swing it, I'd highly recommend! djsamuel
