Tri-Circle-D 2,059
How wonderful for the girls! Whatever they chose will be exciting but I know you will miss them! Hopefully you can continue your trips and continue writing for us.I'm looking forward to a new report--We haven't been to WDW since President's Day weekend last year. We have since had a baby and sold the pop-up we only used 3 times. We will be going back on the Dream in May and visiting in Oct/Nov for the races. No idea when we'll get back to the Fort though And what is going on with those parade floats??Hey, Rachel! It's good to see a post from you!Sorry to hear y'all sold the pop-up, but I understand. No sense hanging on to it when you know you can't use it.Unless I missed a post from you, I don't think you've posted anything about the baby. I knew you had one on the way, but not that he or she was here. Congratulations! So boy or girl? How is the new mom thing going? I'm sure you've already heard this, but it just keeps on getting better and better, so enjoy! You're going on the Dream in May?That's awesome! It will be here before you know it.Now that I have a minute.... Yes, your girls have some hard choices to make, but you are right that those are good choices to have- well, except considering UF. That's a bad. In all seriousness though I know it's a good school- both UF and FSU are. (The HOPE scholarship and FL prepaid have really made the flagship universities of both states top notch- lucky us!) That program at UCF looks seriously AWESOME though, and not just the Disney part. I think it comes down to what the girls want to do and where they can see themselves being happy. My dad raised me a GT fan (I don't tell that to many people, but I guess I'll be outed because TCD TR are famous), and I got accepted, but I didn't want to be an engineer. And the GT vibe wasn't me. The rest is history. My prediction.... either both twins choose UCF or neither. Can't wait to hear more about Tink! All kidding aside, even though I'm a UF grad, it has impressed me the least of all the schools my girls have considered. They have more money than the other state schools, but they spend it on stuff that doesn't necessarily benefit undergrad students. The girls know of many kids who had extra beds jammed in to their dorms, and three kids having to live in a dorm room designed for two. Twin #1 has always wanted to be a Gator, and it's hard for her to be objective. She has several friends who wanted to go and applied and didn't get accepted, so it's hard for her to even think about going to another school. We just went to an open house at the UCF Rosen campus and everything about the place impresses me. The last thing I want either girl to do is pick a school because that's where they always wanted to go and then miss out on something that would have been a better fit for them.We have until May 1 before the final decision has to be made, but we are shooting for April 1 as the decision date. It's going to be tough to decide.GAG=Dinner of AwesomenessYou can never go run with a GAG.Looking forward to hear what else transpired at the Fort.I did not know of the path along the tracks.....I will have to give that a go on the next trip. The path has been there for a long time. It runs out of the back of Storybook Circus, behind the Barnstormer and race track, and enters Tomorrowland by Space Mountain. It's a much more pleasant walk then heading through the crowds the other way.TCD
dvccamper 32
Congratulations to the TCD twins! And I will set the DVR for Kelly and Michael tomorrow to look for them. Thanks for the picture of the service dog area. I've always wondered if they had a place for them to take care of their business.
rm0530 5
We have a little boy, he's 11 weeks. Being a mom is hard but rewarding! He'll be almost 6 months when we go on the Dream for our 4th anniversary cruise. I can't decide if we are brave or just plain crazy for cruising with an infant! I talked my parents into coming with so we will at least have a back-up babysitter. It's hard to believe I found the fiends while planning our 1st anniversary trip to the Fort--time does fly! devores 382
Every park and resort has searvice animal break areas. They can be found here: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/guest-services/service-animals/The funny thing about this is, these areas were created out of the complaints by guests that no relief areas existed for service animals. So Disney created areas for this backstage. The problem was everytime someone needed to use these areas, they had to be escorted backstage by a CM. This wasnt acceptable I guess and more complaints arose to make them more accesible. so on stage areas were created. But guess what, now they are not private enough. I guess searvice animals need privacy do to thier business so more complaints. Cant make everyone happy I guess.
ajcjmom 8
I'm in!Congrats to the twins!Son #1 wanted to go to FSU but instead headed west and is now married, working and going to night school.I helped Son #2 with the Air Force Academy App. That was hard. The hardest part was he left after his freshman year for 2 years and then I had to reapply for him last year.Talk about stress!2 years 2 months till graduation! I've always wondered if they had a place for them to take care of their business.Yes, I am too. Look for them! They were sitting in the center bleachers, about 1/4 of the way up. They both had pink shirts on.I'll post a screen shot later if they make it on TV.We have a little boy, he's 11 weeks. Being a mom is hard but rewarding! I think traveling with a six month old is easier than with a toddler or older child. And, it's great that you have your own babysitters!I remember your first anniversary trip report! It can't be four years!I'm in. Sorry I missed an opportunity to say Hi.Me too.I wasn't sure who was still at the Fort and who wasn't.I wasn't even sure we would have a chance to get by there. But we did!I'll catch you next time. The one behind the Barnstormer is fenced in. I'm not sure if the others are.On that link, they show service dog rest areas in the 1600-1900 and 300 loops of the Fort. Since when? And what about all the Premium pet loops?I'm in!Congrats to the twins!Son #1 wanted to go to FSU but instead headed west and is now married, working and going to night school.I helped Son #2 with the Air Force Academy App. That was hard. The hardest part was he left after his freshman year for 2 years and then I had to reapply for him last year.Talk about stress!2 years 2 months till graduation! Thanks!I should be glad that all of our choices are in state. It would be hard to have a child in school so far away. But, I know your son will receive a great education and have a great career.Hope the 2 years (and 2 months) go fast!TCD
kampfirekim 260
Congrats to the girls! Sorry I missed you on this trip, but my wife and I did manage to stop by to see Lorna, Mo and the womenz briefly on Thursday night. I may try to put together a trip report this week when I get all our photos organized and the laundry done, lol.First page!I saw you but since we didn't all go around the circle and introduce ourselves you may not know which one I was. Anyway.... nice to see you. :DDo that report!!!Nicely done.Actually, I don't have any wild womenz photos. I have a rare Fiend photo, though.Whew! I can now relax and enjoy the report. magnoliafig 51
In! I'm kind of sad the girls might split up for a bit. But awesome sauce they're able to have these choices. Sounds like Mom and Dad did a great job raising them.:)
YENSIDCAMPER 66
Dang, slow again only page 2, but that beats pg. 3! I sure wish I lived close enough to make weekend trips to the Fort. I love being able to read about yours. Thanks again for sharing.
devores 382
The areas they reference at the fort are the dog run areas behind the loops. The areas set aside specificly for this. Of course, any animal may use these areas so they are not specifically service animal areas.
BuckeyeFortMama 43
Only TCD can make a few hours at Disney into a full blown trip report and keep us all on the edges of our seats and drooling on our computers in anticipation of more.
momof3kids-Yvonne 596
The question I still have is if the 2800 loop has the ADA cabins why aren't there any service dog areas near there. Wouldn't most people who have service dogs be staying there? I know that is where my cousin would be staying with her dog if she was staying at the Fort.
Momof6....aka Marty 769
Do you see all the seagulls sitting on the roof of the Fort's MK dock? (look for the green roof). I never noticed that many seagulls around here before. I believe they brought in extra seasgulls to make the Ariel section of the new Fantasyland seem more realistic. Can't wait to see what happens next - I am on the edge of my seat! fortpartyof4 108
Love the RR photos - beautiful color!Love the carriage. I would have liked to have had an opportunity to see it too. I played Cinderella in a play in elementary school (I was the "before" version), so I have a special fondness for that story.Funny you bring up the service animal thing. On Sat. night I was researching the DHS map to find out if they had lockers. We were going to be doing the Feast and Fantasmic on Sunday night and the forecast was for 34 degrees that night. I wanted to bring blankets to sit on and wrap up in during the show but didn't want to lug them all day. While looking for the locker info I noticed the service animal thing and thought to myself, I never knew that but they need a potty too after all!We did find the lockers, btw. Up front and very large, only 50 cents! Worked out great and our hineys didn't freeze sitting on those aluminum benches!
Lou... 3,118
As we walked along, I snapped a photo of the new service dog rest area they built behind the Goofy rollercoaster. As best I can remember, I haven't seen anything like this in any of the parks before. I also don't recall seeing any at the other parks. I wonder if there are other areas like this around WDW?There are "service dog relief areas" all over WDW.There are at least three and in some parks, four. They are shown on the park maps. lklasing 16
Yay! A new TCD report!3 comments:1. I had always thought that the TCD twins and DD Danielle were in the same grade. But, I'm guessing the twins are a year ahead of her. They're graduating this year? What are you going to do with the empty nest?2. I'm so jealous that you got to make an appearance at the WWW! One day I'll be there, whether any of them remember me or not!3. GAG - Wishing I had one for dinner tonight!Looking forward to the next installment!
Hotmamac aka Misty 11
We're doing well, thank you TCD. Glad to be back home on the boards. From the pictures, I have to say winter in Florida beats the h - e - double hockey sticks out of winter in Pittsburgh. But I guess I didn't need the pictures to tell me that. Can't wait for more. h2odivers...Ray 952
Sorry in late but I'm in and ready for more. Congrats to the twins. I'm sure they'll make the best decision.
