Lou... 3,118
It kinda grows on you after a while.I and another driver were waiting to clock out a couple of days ago at AK and were asked by a couple of photographers will you two stand in front of the bus with the new color scheme and pose for a photo. We said sure, why not. I have no clue where the photo will appear though.

DaveInTN 3,247
It looks like an airport rental car shuttle to me. I prefer my Disney transportation to have a whimsical look. Like a monorail.

Lou... 3,118
Just a reminder of what the costume colors are. There is also red striping along the sides off the pants. Were the new bus colors really based on the costumes, you decide.

Lou... 3,118
The expression that you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig with lipstick. That applies to that photo. That model bus, which is a Prevost, is a pig before and after the paint job.Luckily they have not gotten anymore of that model since whenever they found out that they are bad buses. Lou... 3,118
Although a whimsical look for the buses would appeal to most people, after all it's Disney, it will not be happening. Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on what you expect from Disney, Disney has become very serious about bus transportation. They have taken comprehensive steps and spent a boat load of money over the past 5 years to insure that it operates and appears as professional as possible. When you have up to 80 people on a bus at night and it's raining, it's very serious. The new paint scheme, driver costumes, growing the fleet by 30%, dozens and dozens of new rules, endless driver training, and high driver expectations, have all led to a much different WDW bus transportation system. On another board recently, there was a thread titled, "have the bus drivers been less than magical lately?" If they only knew. Well if chit-chatting over the PA, leading the happy birthday song, or playing Disney trivia, all while the bus is moving, is regarded as magical, then yes, bus drivers are less than magical now. They're not supposed to do it except on a stationary bus.Every once in a while you will get a Golden Oldie driver who's been doing his shtick for decades and who couldn't care less about the new way of doing things. With the cameras on board now, should anything ever happen while he's performing, he'll be gone that day once the recorded footage is reviewed by management. Whether it's talking on the phone, texting, or entertaining guests, it's considered distracted driving. So sorry folks, they'll be no whimsy as far as bus transportation goes. Now as for the monorails, that's different. With the auto-pilot system being implemented, the lever pushers will have nothing to do except entertain you.
mouseketab.....Carol 1,261
Doesn't bother me one bit. Ma44hew94 0
The new bus color scheme is a silver/grey with red highlights. It's kinda of retro theme. Two buses have the new look for evaluation, so be on the lookout. All new buses will be ordered with the new paint scheme and eventually the existing buses will be repainted. IMO, it's a much better looking exterior. And speaking of new buses, 24 more of the standard buses have been ordered and, this is big, 12 articulating buses have been ordered. The articulating buses will only be used at the value resorts and to augment the TTC to MK monorails during heavy periods or when the monorails are down. There are currently 319 buses. With the articulating buses, new bus stops are needed. At MK, an additional bus stop area is being built. It will run parallel to the two existing bus zones and closest to the lake. And even though there will be an additional bus area, there are no plans to run the MK to AK or the MK to DHS buses from that new area. A new Que design will be required as buses will be loaded by all doors. This approach, if successful, may be carried over to existing bus stops.Buena Vista Drive will be going through an extreme makeover..Reducing the number of crosswalks on Seven Seas Drive.Monorail pilotless system. No more lever pushers.Loading two ferrys at the same time during very busy times of the year.Cameras on buses.Great updates you provide, do you know when the new Novabus artics will enter service since I have heard romours they are due very soon?
