DaveInTN 3,247
Thanks everyone. We are doing good, and Foofy (our 4 year old Maltipoo) is getting LOTS of love.
Judy in Texas 150
I was at MK for rope drop this morning with my daughter and son-in-law when they got a call from the vet who is boarding the dogs. While 12 year old Smokey was out for a walk this morning she collapsed. She was diagnosed with bloat. The vet tried everything short of surgery. They decided in the middle of the magic of rope drop to put Smokey down. Bummer. MK rope drop will never be the same.
DaveInTN 3,247
Judy, I am so sorry to hear this! Poor Smokey....I hope she didn't suffer too much. As hard as their decision was, and how unfortunately the timing was, it was the right decision to make.

Judy in Texas 150
Thanks everyone. While they are heartbroken, they realize that having this happen at the vet's was better than having it happen at home while they were at work. She got immediate medical attention and a family friend plus their other dog (Smokey's best friend Wally) were able to be with Smokey at the end.
caveat lector 181
So true. Sorry to hear about your loss. I'm sure the vet made smokeys time peaceful. Every time the rope drops think of your buddy and the good times.
