New "Next Gen" ending for It's a Small World

Recommended Posts

WDW News Today is reporting that a few days ago, the scene at the end of IASW with all the signs saying "Good Bye" in different languages was removed, and black tarps were hung in that area. Word is that it will be replaced with a new scene that will utilize NextGen technology to read the MagicBands and RFID tickets to give guests a personalized "Goodbye" instead.

You are going to have a reader on your bus and be required to welcome and announce by Public address system thousands of passengers per day by their first name and hometown or school attended.

"Now boarding, a 6' 1" environmental engineer from Chapel Hill, North Carolina.........I.P. Freely!!!"

I think you may be on to something Aaron.

In kinda of a related tidbit. After the happy birthday announcement came over the bus PA, a guest asked how did the bus know that it was their birthday? I told them in a very serious tone, that the 3 inch diameter "it's my birthday" button they're wearing has a microchip on the back which triggers the announcement automatically.

They were amazed, but not surprised because Disney is so technology advanced and stuff like that is expected, ya right.

I later told them that I made up the story about the microchip and the system that triggers the announcement is very low tech, me.

Drivers look for the various buttons and kids with princess or pirate outfits while boarding is taking place and then if the situation allows, play the appropriate messages over the PA. Hi tech, I've got your hi tech right here.
