The American Idol Experience at Walt Disney World Resort Introduces New Songs for a New Season

Did you catch the premiere of the new season of “American Idol” last night? I always enjoy watching the audition episodes, as young people take the first bold step to pursuing their dreams.

I spoke to the team at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and they said they’re already seeing some familiar faces in the New York auditions. These Hollywood hopefuls got their start competing for a Dream Ticket at The American Idol Experience at the Walt Disney World Resort. In fact, last season, five contestants of the coveted Top 13 had been Dream Ticket recipients!

Just as “American Idol” on television makes changes each season, The American Idol Experience has recently been updated with the addition of 14 new songs, which guests can choose to perform for their big moment on stage.

Many of the new songs, including hits from former American Idols, are titles that have been requested by guests auditioning at The American Idol Experience. Taking a cue from the television show, where country music has become more prominent, the list also adds several more songs from that genre.

Here’s the complete list of the recent additions, bringing the total number of songs available for auditions to 158. Which one would be a dream come true for you to perform on The American Idol Experience stage?

That totally changes my mind about this attraction. I will definitely be auditioning now! Or not.

I may be wrong, but I'm guessing that most of you have not checked out the American Idol Experience at DHS.

You're probably thinking that they put on everyone that wants to get on stage. Well they don't.

When I did it last, they had some mediocre, not horrible, talent, but there was some professional quality talent as well. I was impressed.

If you like the show, you'll like the attraction.

On a side note, if I have a bus with a mic that is enabled, sometimes I'll make an announcement as I'm pulling into DHS. I'll say "make sure you do the scariest attraction at DHS. No it's not TOT or RNRC, it's the American Idol Experience.

I think it is, in fact, professional quality talent.

Yes, I think they stick CM's in the line-up when they are lacking volunteers.

Interesting theory. There are a ton of talented CMs that aren't employed at WDW as singers.

The problem I have with your theory is that if it ever was confirmed, it would be a huge PR embarrassment for Disney.

Is Disney willing to take that risk?

One way to find out is to get a copy of the form that you have to sign in order to audition.

If it's like most other forms where you can win something from a cooperation, it will say that employees of the Walt Disney Company or it's affiliated companies are not eligible to participate. I think family members are not eligible as well.

It's not hard to believe if you think about it.

This attraction needs three contestants for each show. What happens if not enough guests volunteer? Or if they get nothing but really bad singers?

They would have to cancel the show.

But what if they had a few "plants" on the payroll to stick in slots they need to fill and let the show go on?

Of course, the "plants" can't win.

I've seen this handled by the "plant's" voice breaking or singing out of key.

Or just a good old fashioned fake vote count.

It's a victimless crime.

Yeah, I'm guessing there are enough local Orlando wannabes that keep trying month after month to get that golden ticket, that if there are plants they might start recognizing them.
