Nicki aka Rebelstand 272
yeah.... my kids on vacation aren't going to go for that one. Pizza and chicken nuggets... this mommy doesn't want to fight the fight on HER vacation
DaveInTN 3,247
Yes, as the article states it was begun at Be Out Guest....and our dinner at BOG was the most difficult of the trip as it relates to getting our little ones to eat.How come adults can order Steak and French Fries....or a seafood in rich sauce in a pastry shell...or a giant pork chop. But the kids have to eat grilled chicken or fish and steamed veggies?

But the kids have to eat grilled chicken or fish and steamed veggies?kids can be cantankerous enough at home - Son has decided he likes broccoli and daughter has decided she hates hamburgers, hot dogs, mashed potatoes, sloppy Joes (hidden veggies), and pretty much anything you would have sworn two weeks ago she loved.... But the kids have to eat grilled chicken or fish and steamed veggies?Darn fine question. I'm all for having the healthy options available (for adults and kids), but they shouldn't be the only options. After all, you are on vacation at a theme park. We eat pretty healthy at home, but part of the fun of being on vacation is eating stuff we don't normally. And shouldn't it really be up to their parents to make decisions about what their kids eat on vacation? DaveInTN 3,247
And shouldn't it really be up to their parents to make decisions about what their kids eat on vacation? That's what bothers me the most about it. I agree...having options is great. But this is like legislating healthy eating. I don't like this kind of crap coming from my government, and I don't like it from DIsney. I will say, in most situations where Disney offers healthy sides for kids meals, in small print it will say you can request fries, soda, etc. I don't think at BOG they even said that...but as fries are on the adult menu they will still provide them if requested. Having said that, even with the option, the majority of time we get the kids the carrots and grapes. But there are times when Anna needs her fries. And if Anna ain't happy, ain't nobody happy. mouseketab.....Carol 1,261
The one thing as an adult, I actually like some of this healthy kids stuff. I may actually order off the kids menu as my entree sometimes if they have something besides the burger, chicken nuggets, fries, etc.I also sometimes get kids meals at Counter Service, cause doggonit, that is the only way you can get that tiny fountain soda. We bring bottled sodas with us into the parks cause you can keep those through attractions. I generally just sip on soda/water throughout the day, and can never finish one of those large fountain sodas before I have to dispose of it.

I have no problem with capitalist motivations. It's the social engineering that bothers me. :rofl3:
