Needed: Baked/Loaded Potato Casserole

There are lots of baked/loaded potato casserole recipes on line. The variations seem to be in the cheeses used. One even had mayonnaise (I'm not so sure about that). Anyone have a recipe they really like?

This isn't anything special, but our friends like it. I boil my potatoes and then cream them with butter, milk and salt & pepper. I put them in a casserole and top it with sour cream, green onions, bacon and sharp cheddar cheese. I bake it at 350 until the cheese melts.

So you are basically making mashed potatoes and then topping them with extras? Do you put the sour cream on before you bake it or after? If before, do you mix the sour cream and cheese together?

I put the sour cream on before I bake it. I put the toppings on in layers ending with the cheese. And yes, I make mashed potatoes and then add the toppings. I also use regular bacon not bacon bits.
