Just Whipperwhirl 24
Our Easter bunny tends to deliver very elaborate themed baskets. So say this year our Easter Bunny was to bring fishing gear for a 6.5 year old boy - what would he bring? This particular boy has no fishing gear to start and will be using his gear to catch and release pond fish with his Mom & Dad during the summer. Mom and Dad have limited experience fishing - but are going to get into it as well. Are there any books you might recommend for children who are interested in fishing? Is there a special tackle box at Cabelas or something that could work as an Easter basket? What do fisherman wear? Any creative suggestions would be helpful.
Total Joker ... TJ 203
Wally world has a jr. angler set with pole and small tackle box thats pretty cheap and works well for the first timer. Heres a few http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=14574910&findingMethod=rrhttp://www.walmart.com/ip/Zebco-33-Flatboard-Fishing-Combo-with-Tackle-Box-and-Tackle/8144833http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=11960203&findingMethod=rr#ProductDetailMake sure to take a pair of needle nose pliers with you. Clothes are the same as you wear anywhere. Don't forget sun protection but dont get it on the lure\bait!
BRDof3...Rob 40
I'll second TJ on this. We got our little guy a starter set at Wally World, and he has done his best to wear it out. He does just fine, even fishing the bigger ponds and lakes. You can get basic tackle boxes there, too. Also second the part about the bait. Make sure you don't have sunscreen on your hands when you handle bait or artificial lures. The smell will keep the fish from hitting it.
Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo..Karla 77
Here are some others that might work. The book is for a little older child but should help Mom & Dad too. Might want to make sure the fishing rod is one that floats...just saying... http://www.amazon.com/Mickey-Catchem-Bobber-Fishing-Zebco/dp/B0000ATQGE/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1298130880&sr=8-5http://www.amazon.com/Kids-Book-Fishing-Tackle-Box/dp/0894808664/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1298131056&sr=8-2http://www.amazon.com/Rapala-Fishing-Kids-Accessory-Kit/dp/B0007WNP2Q/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1298131158&sr=8-
BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
Very cool idea!If you can find a way to actually wrap it up like a 'basket' - how about topping it off with a snazzy fishing hat? All good fishermen need a good hat.
