ftwildernessguy 778
You know, there are a lot of beautiful areas in the country to camp. No doubt my favorite is the Fort, but if I can't be there my second choice is Hickory Run State Park in the Pocono region of Pennsylvania. If you've never been there, you owe it to yourself to go there for a visit someday. It's much more than Ceasar's resorts and horse racing. Here's a picture of the Outback on our favorite siteOkay, two pictures. I was messing around with a wide angle lens. Some may remember a picture from the same site taken in the spring of 2010.Looks a little different in the fall.Peak leaf viewing was probably about a week ago. Most were on the ground now, but it was still pretty nice. The campground was quiet until Friday night. I guess a lot of people bought end of season campers and picked this weekend to try them out, since there was an abundance of new trailers with temporary tags and owners who didnt have a clue how to set them up. It would have been entertaining, but it was raining. The weather was nice for the most part, sunny and temps in the 60's during the day. We did a lot of walking with the puppies. Here's a family photo. Puppies were not too cooperative. For those interested in the comfort station, they are pretty nice for a state park. I have spent a lot more money at a private campground for much worse.Space is tight in the Outback, so I created a puppy cave in the front storage area by raising the lower bunk. Kind of like a doggie man cave. They could decorate it any way they wanted, but they chose to just mess up some comforters there. They had a pretty interesting design for a fire ring I had never seen before. One side had a grate for grilling. I was hoping for some pictures of bears, since they are trying to find food to fatten up for the winter, but alas, no bears. FWGirl was happy about that. We were only there for a couple days, but the dogs really like it there, I like being out in the woods, and as long as the heat and TV work in the Outback, FWGirl is happy. She much prefers Pigeon Forge if she cant get to the Fort, but she did this trip for me.The Wonder Beagle liked the trip. He was the reason for our cancelling our trip to Florida in September due to his failing health, but the humidity was low in the mountains and his breathing was fine. This was Murphy's first camping trip, and he couldn't get enough. He loved walking through the dry leaves. Hoping we can all make the Fort next year.So put the Pocono region on your list for camping trips and come up and see us sometime!
Judy in Texas 150
I'm so glad Wonder Beagle was able to enjoy the trip. Looks like a lovely area. I miss the leaves turning in the fall.

ftwildernessguy 778
Charity - do you know the Ramsay family in Salisbury?
ftwildernessguy 778
I should add something. When we set up, I hooked up the circuit tester to the 30 amp service and it showed a problem. I used my 50 amp adaptor and everything checked out fine. The moral of the story is be sure you have adaptors for all types of service in case of an electrical problem.

Tri-Circle-D 2,059
FWG-I forgot to say that I also loved the photos showing your camper in the same site in Spring and then in the Fall.I agree with Stef, one thing that I do not like about Florida is how we have no pronounced change of seasons. But, I don't miss it enough to move.TCD

Just Beachy 18
Thanks for the pics! I love that the dogs were enjoying themselves. We camped at Ricketts Glen State Park near there when I was a kid. I would love to go back there again. One of my sweatshirts is at the bottom of the lake there. DaveInTN 3,247
Go Mickey! He looks good! Nice looking park. I've seen that design of firering before. Pretty nice. They use a similar one at the Defeated Creek COE park. I've used the grate to rest a dutch oven on, and it's nice that you can flip it up to have a big fire.
