2012 Food and WineFestival

Recommended Posts

We ventured to the Cast Preview of the 2012 Food and Wine Festival. This is one of those events we attend every year, but this is the first Cast Preview we have been able to attend.

The crowds were lower, but there were still allot of people. I attest this to the internet. Word gets around quick and this event is quickly becoming common place and people plan trips expecting it now. But nothing is guaranteed and a few booths were closed and some of the food items were not available. So its not the full experience.

We started out arriving at 1400....or 2pm (I gotta get out of that military time mindset).

46359_10151066185283663_914426664_n.jpg

The displays were up. I noticed the theme for this year. "Taste your Way Around the World." Disney is cashing in on the theme of so many guests to EPCOT. Drink your way around the world, eat your way around the world, shop your way around the world....you get the idea. Didnt need to put much imagination into that.

We head straight to World Showcase and begin our "trip". We had starved ourselves all day to prepare for this and was starving.

The first booth up was:

399647_10151066189478663_1822271377_n.jpg

This was a new vegan booth. Nothing against vegans, but nothing seemed appealing to us, even after fasting all day.

Judge for yourself......

We had the Jerk chicken. We get one serving and share. This tactic helps us make it all the way around the world without exploding. We also pace ourselves, taking time to eat and relax at each destination rather than eat and run. Today we didnt have the normal full day to enjoy things. The preview was only from 2 to 8. Six hours to visit 29 locations.

Sorry, I forgot to get a picture of the chicken. Remember, I was famished at this point and nearly ate one of my fingers while devouring it.

The portion was small, for the cost, and you get one drum-let. The chicken was good though.

The pork slider. It was pretty good.

We had made it. All of the way around. But we needed some pot stickers, so we headed around again. Luckily, China was now opened and we got our potstickers. Just as we finished, the skies opened up and it poured, and poured, and poured. So we did the mexico ride, Reflections or China, and the American Adventure to kill time. It finally stopped raining around 8 so we found a nice place to watch illuminations. It had been a while since either of us has seen it, so we set up over by Canada.

Now, since yall have read along this far, I will throw in a bonus and post pics of the fireworks.......

Wow! Great start, Dave. You should be a professional photographer. I noticed that Terra booth on the information from this year. I will probably skip it too. But, I would like to know what the Fort beefless tips are. Looking forward to the rest! TCD

Thanks. I am looking into a job as a photographer.

There wasnt a line at the Terra booth, ever. And I never saw anyone buy anything there.

Not sure what beefless tips are. Maybe someone else can chime in.

And this: Chick’n Breast (my thought was yeah they go together)

I cant post a picture of that. Id be banned from here. But Im sure youve seen em before.

Well, it wasnt crowded compared to a weekend. But the chokepoints around the world got congested to the point it was difficult to get around. The lines were minimal and never had more than 2 people in front of us.

Never mind, I just saw Karla's photo of the CM Preview sign at the F&W.

Nice of DIsney to tell us.

My CM wife was told by word of mouth. I never saw it posted anywhere, but her sources were right. The only benefit to the CM is it didnt count against your main gate pass to get in. Anyone in the park could try the F&W stuff. And according to the internet, there were a ton of bloggers there. Guess maybe it should have been named CM and anyone who blogs about Disney preview......

They made a big deal about announcing it last year, so I was on the lookout for it this year.

It was open to everyone last year too.

Oh well, I was going later next month anyways.
