Salisbury Beach (getting to know me) TR

Recommended Posts

We arrived Friday night after a very HOT ride (we took both the truck w/ the Lance camper on it and my 1999 Caravan). Both vehicles have no AC. yikes! [Ken will fix the air conditioning in the truck before we go to Florida this Aug.]

Relaxing after setting up (Casey is my oldest (9), Kylie is 6 and that's my mother-in-law).

Ok, now that I've got the photo thing down (so sorry everyone!!! ) Back to the report.

We usually camp at this state park over the July 4th week w/ my husband's family (His Mom & Dad, 2 brothers & their families & his sister and her kids). There were 5 campers plus one tent all in back to back sites. We had a great time!

The girls and I woke early on Saturday morning and went for a quite and peaceful walk along the river. The campground is right on the junction of the Merrimack river and the Atlantic Ocean. So, we have both the river and ocean to play in. The best of both worlds!

Then later that afternoon we went to the "real" beach and went swimming.

The air was hot, the water cold and a good time was had by all. We spent 5 hours on the beach. Sunday was more of the same. :-) We had great weather. Temp was in the high eighty's most of the week w/ a nice sea breeze.

Monday Ken and I had to work (the commute was about an hour for us from the sea shore). The girls stayed back with family and had a great day on the beach.

Most nights you could find the entire family around the campfire.

Roasting marshmallows and eating a freshly baked pie ( Sat was Mixed berry pie, Tuesday was Apple/cranberry pie, Thursday was Pumpkin and Sat was Mixed berry again by request). YUMMY!!! We carry a cast iron dutch oven w/ us and I love to bake. ;D

The kids had a great time riding their bikes and doing crafts together.

The adults had fun to. Here's Ken and his brother's playing badminton with their dad.

When we didn't head to either the river or beach, the kids cooled off w/ the slip-in-side Ken's brother brought along.

We only had one so so weather day. That was the 4th. So we took all the girls to see "Brave" They all loved the movie and it was a nice change of pace and nice to be in air conditioning ^-^ .

Here's a photo that Ky took of Ken, Casey and myself on a lovely evening bike ride.

The river had a cool "point" here' a photo of the girls in front of it.

We had a great week filled with trips to the river then trips to the ocean (the river was a 3 min walk from the campsite; but the ocean was either a 15min walk or I just drove the caravan over to the parking lot). We didn't want to leave. But we were glad we had such great weather.

Here's the last photo I took of that vacation. We left the beach around 1pm and stopped for ice cream on the way home.

Thanks for reading and I hope this lets you get to know me a bit better.

There is no appologizing at Fort Fiends (ok you can but someone will give you a hard time for it, normally Lou but I beat him to it, of course he doesn't read TR's so he probably missed it)!! Good job and thanks for sharing.

Thanks Sommer. The girls are part of the O'Halloran Irish Folk Dancers. It's a non-competitive troupe of all ages. They dance at nursing homes, hospitals and community events only. I love it and so do the girls.

We really had a wonderful week at the beach. It's always so great when the weather cooperates!

Thanks a lot Jeff. There goes one of my Snarky opportunities down the drain.

Apologizing means you did something wrong and guys should never admit to that.

It's written in the new "How to be a real Man for Dummies" book.

I have to read this TR because CIndy lives in one of my former home towns in southern NH.

Salisbury Beach, camped there a few times 100 years ago. The water is always cold.

Is the amusement park still there? I have many great childhood memories from there.
