devores 382
As anyone who knows me knows, an extension of my arm is my camera. I am rarely found without it and take pictures of everything. This 3rd of July was no exception. It was the show that almost wasnt though. We had made reservations at Konas for 1920. This has become a tradition with us for anytime Disney has special fireworks shows. Well, when we went to check in, no reservation existed. The guard was not helpful and just turned us away with no apoligies or have a magical days. So we call, and sure enough, nothing in the system. They had a resrvation at 1920 for someone with a similar last name (off by two letters) AND a similar phone number (off by one digit), but since we could not prove it was a mistake on thier part and it was ours, we could not use that one. What are the odds?I latter checked at guess what? That reservation never showed up....go figure. So with zero help from anyone at Disney, we park in our secret parking and ate at Capt Cooks. After eating we head to the beach to stake our claim. Just as we get settled in, the rain comes.Severe weather alerts are called and it rains. The show is pushed to 2130, then to 2200, then 2215.We thought we would never see the show. While waiting the lobby was packed. People were shoulder to shoulder. So we sneak over to a secret location DW told me about.Great view of the show and zero people. Many of you will be able to figure out where it is. For those who dont. Im not giving out my secrets that easily.Look at it as a scavanger hunt.Best part, we were out of the rain while waiting then just had to step up a bit to see the show. Many of you will notice the small amount of photos this go around.I got a few new toys and decided to try them out this show. A tripod and remote shutter release. So, I experimented with these photos. I ended up with some good shots, but was only able to get about 40 pictures. One good thing about this process is I got to see what the fireworks look like in person and not through a view finder. So, with no further adoe, let the photos begin........ PureTcrazy...rita 380
I wish we had know you were there. We had reservations at Kona also. We were going to have dessert after the fireworks, but were able to check in early during all the chaos. I guess we got your place! Gorgeous photos!

devores 382
Thanks all. The odd thing with the reservation is the last name was Devone, and the phone number was off by 1 digit, and there was not an e-mail address associated with the reservation. We think the system messed up when it was made and changed some of the info. I am still upset that Disney offered nothing to help us out. Just a sorry. We checked and Konas wasnt that busy and that reservation (the one close to our name) never showed.

So happy that you didn't take the magical u-turn back to the fort like they told us to do.If those pictures are any indication, I'd say the new tripod & remote are going to be fabulous! BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
It seems it was a year of wacky fireworks incidents! They had to evacuate half a million people that had been waiting on the Esplanade in Boston all day to a nearby tunnel when storms rolled through, which delayed the show for a while. Then there was San Diego - supposedly one of the nation's biggest pyrotechnic displays - where somebody goofed and accidentally shot off the entire show's worth of fireworks all at once at the beginning of the show. One of these days I'm going to get brave enough to go on the 4th..Me too Judy, but that day won't come until they invent air conditioned full body suits! It may be hotter at home, BUT you can stay inside to stay cool. The fireworks were awesome, the Fiends were awesome, but the heat was Hell! I would not recommend a summer trip to anyone unless you could fly down eat and watch the fireworkds and fly home! doodlebug....Cherie 461
It was HOT. That said I still had a good time and found ways to stay comfortable. Well maybe not comfortable but I did manage to survive. I didn't go to a single park though, that would have been sure death.
