GaDawgFan.....Kelly 799
We're here! We arrived Saturday around noon and were lucky that our site was empty, so we got to come in early. I figure I'll post some pictures of our trip for others interested in camping here in the future or those who already love Topsail. This is our "beach house" for the next two weeks. We love that the sites are shaded and fairly private. The pads aren't as big as the premium sites at the fort, but they're pretty big.One of the best things about Topsail is the beach! There aren't many places in FL we've been to where you see this along the beach instead of high-rise hotels.I have to add a picture of the little guy. How could you not love that face?!?!?!This is the pool, nothing special at all. Of course, this is the middle of the day, so it's not crowded at all, and that's nice.I'll post more pictures while we're here, so to be continued....
stefa70 205
I love how woodsy the sites are. The beach and that little guy are both beautiful.Have a great time. Can't wait to see more pics. Thanks!
CCIntrigue...aka Gwen 547
Have fun! Looks like a great campground.
GaDawgFan.....Kelly 799
I'll post more pics and should mention a few things for those interested in camping here...It's a FL state park, and I think it's $42 a night for the RV sites and you have sewer hook up.The beach isn't right next to the site, so you have to ride a bike or take the hourly tram. Tri-Circle-D 2,059
I hope you have a great trip!I would love a water quality report. How's the June Grass situation? (that's what they call seaweed in that neck of the woods). The TCD gang will be making its annual trek to 30A a bit later this summer.TCD
doodlebug....Cherie 461
Looks like a great place to stay!! Your little guy needs to be featured in many pictures!!
GaDawgFan.....Kelly 799
There's a fair amount of seaweed, some days more than others. The ocean has been calm but is rough today. Now that I can upload to photobucket on my phone, I'll try to post a picture.
GaDawgFan.....Kelly 799
Here you go TCD... Still flying a yellow flag but rough and you can see the seaweed. You camp at Grayton Beach, right? How hard is it to get in? Do you stay on a full hook up site? We're going to venture over there while we're here.
Tri-Circle-D 2,059
That is a great photo, thanks! The seaweed doesn't look bad at all. And, I will bet you have a yellow flag the whole time. I don't recall them ever putting out green flags, even when it's calm.We have camped in Grayton Beach. We went during spring break, and made our reservations a year ahead of time. I think it's hard to get in that time of year. We had the loop without sewer. I am not sure how hard it is to get in the rest of the year. For our summer trip we "camp" in Seaside. We rent a cottage, and that's what we will do this summer.TCD
GaDawgFan.....Kelly 799
Well that's the wrong picture. That's what I get for trying to be fancy and post from my phone.
GaDawgFan.....Kelly 799
This should be the right one. You can see more seaweed.
Tri-Circle-D 2,059
Thanks. That's still not bad at all.Have a great trip!TCD
PureTcrazy...rita 380
That is a nice campground! Our beaches up here are gorgeous! Florida has beautiful state parks! TCD is correct, I have seen the seaweed so bad that you couldn't stand to walk in the water because it was EVERYWHERE!
AC in A2......Aaron 693
Looks like a nice area....great pic of the little guy.
Solamom 2
Great pictures. We are thinking of camping there sometime soon. Is it true we can't bring our own kayaks in the park?
GaDawgFan.....Kelly 799
You can bring your own kayaks, but you can also rent them. You can't leave them on the beach at night, but some people put them in the truck bed of the tram to get them back and forth. Here are some more pics.....Here's the playground. Notice Zachary enjoying it.Here's the community building where they do a kids club in the summer and have a ranger breakfast on Saturdays. Here are some sites on a small lake. And here is Z-man playing Angry Birds during lunch at Baytowne Wharf. Don't bother him; he's busy.
LORNADUCK 261
Wow they have Bob's dock, how did it get there. :rofl2:
LONE-STAR 370
Can you use a golf cart there and if so can you use it to get from your site to the beach.
GaDawgFan.....Kelly 799
You can't take golf carts to the beach. You can ride the tram, bike, or walk (I wouldn't walk). Most people bike and have a trailer behind for all the beach stuff, or in our case we tow the kid and beach stuff.
Tri-Circle-D 2,059
Wow they have Bob's dock, how did it get there. :rofl2:LOL!That is Bob's dock!Kelly- I love the photo of "Z-man" playing Angry Birds and your caption "don't bother him, he's busy." They sure grow up fast, don't they?Also- any time you want to give another water quality report, I'm ready to hear it.TCD
GaDawgFan.....Kelly 799
It rained last night, and we're about to head down. I heard the tide came all the way to the dunes. Should be interesting.
Tri-Circle-D 2,059
It rained last night, and we're about to head down. I heard the tide came all the way to the dunes. Should be interesting.Yes, that could be interesting.Hope the beach is still there!TCD
GaDawgFan.....Kelly 799
Wow! Water is still super high, and the storm brought the seaweed. This is where bikes park. The boardwalk over the dunesHeres the water report. Red flag, rip tide warning, and really rough. I'm not letting Z play near the edge of the water. See how high the water is? There's also much more seaweed. It's like a different beach. If you're a skim boarder, today is your day.
Tri-Circle-D 2,059
Nice photos! So is it a red flag today?TCD
GaDawgFan.....Kelly 799
Yes, red flag. It's hard to capture how rough the water is, well rough for the Gulf.
