dblr....Rennie 224
Other then the dinning plan what other option is there? What is the plan that offers a discount on both the meals and drinks? We will be there for our 25th wedding anniversary and would like to do a couple of nice places for dinner, we know we want to do Le Cellier that is our favorite. We will be staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge at Kidanni Village for this trip on our DVC memgership so we can also use that for discounts also. Thanks for any help or info!!!!!
BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
If you are a FL resident or Annual Passholder, you can purchase a Tables in Wonderland dining card, which gives you 20% off on food and drinks (incl. alcohol) at most TS restaurants, bars and lounges, as well as a few CS locations (AK and I think maybe the Values too)Cost for the card is $75 and it's good for a year. Actually we bought our last one in October 2010 and it was good through 12/31/11 - so a little more than a year.
BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
Oh also... if you're an AP holder and don't want to purchase the TiW card, the AP alone will get you a discount on SOME places, but not all.
BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
Ooh good news! You mention DVC - I just found this on the DVCNews.com site...Disney Vacation Club members are now eligible to purchase the Tables in Wonderland dining discount card for use at many Walt Disney World restaurants. A few weeks back we were told that the Tables in Wonderland card would not be available to DVC members until sometime in the spring. However it appears that the "i"s were dotted and "t"s crossed on the agreements a bit sooner than expected. The Tables in Wonderland card is now available for purchase at theme park Guest Relations desks. The cost is $100 for Disney Vacation Club members and Florida residents. Annual Passholders are eligible for a discounted price of $75. The Tables in Wonderland card entitles its owner to a 20% discount at most Walt Disney World Table Service restaurants along with a handful of Counter Service locations. The card is valid for approximately 12-13 months from the time of purchase. The discount applies to all menu items including alcohol and is valid for up to 10 individuals dining with the cardholder. Complete details regarding the Tables in Wonderland program, as well as a list of eligible restaurants can be found at Allears.net.One note: when you use the TiW card they will automatically add 18% gratuity to your TS bill. You can add more if you like, but don't forget it's already on there and "double tip" :)http://dvcnews.com/index.php/dvc-program/member-benefits/1854-tables-in-wonderland-now-available-to-dvc-members
mouseketab.....Carol 1,261
I think you are looking for Tables in Wonderland, Passholders and Florida Residents can purchase the planhttp://allears.net/din/dde.htm
MicknMin...Holly 54
I'm pretty sure that they just announced that DVC members can now purchase Tables in Wonderland too!
MicknMin...Holly 54
Okay...just ignore that last post. I totally missed Monique's post about DVC members.
dblr....Rennie 224
Thanks that's what I was looking for just not sure it will be worth it for our 1 week trip, thanks again.
rdancemom... Pam 113
Depends upon where you eat & whether you take the kids. Since your boys are older you could be paying for 4 adults. We used to buy the TIW card every year when it was DDE. Only bought it for a few years after the change but that's b/c we started economizing more. For us, a party of 4 adults & a child w/minimum of $180+ per TS, the break-even point was usually hit after 2 nice TS meals. It definitely provided much more savings for our family than the dining plan ever offered... well unless you count those first few years of free dining when app, dessert, & gratuity were all included that is. mouseketab.....Carol 1,261
We bought our TiW this last trip, and just two meals for a party of 6 more than covered the cost.
dblr....Rennie 224
It will be just the wife & I this trip, can you say 2nd honeymoon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
We get APs and always buy the TiW card. One really nice meal can come close to covering the cost. And check out the list of what locations are covered and see if they're places you'd go. We get a lot of use out of ours at the AK CS as well as the various lounges around WDW - including the take out window at Crockett's! :)
rdancemom... Pam 113
I'd have thought DVC members would at least rate the same discount as AP holders. I'd have been wrong.Just noticed it was $100 for DVC TIW. That's $500 worth of dining or more to break even. Unless you have multiple trips in mind, I can see where it'd be hard to justify that for just two people.
BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
Agreed. These days it usually takes us 2-3 weeks to recoup the cost of the $75 card, but then we use it for 6 weeks total so we definitely come out ahead. If we do a couple of really nice meals (like CG and Narcoosees - especially if drinks are involved) we can recoup the cost really quick! All the small stuff adds up fast too. For starters, it'll save you $2 on those $10 margaritas at the Crockett's take out window! :SmileyMargarita1:
dblr....Rennie 224
If we paln a trip for next year ( like I want to) we might get this if we just do this 1 week it does not look worth getting. Thanks for all the helpful info I know I could count on you guys for help.
brerroadrunner 8
Remember, TIW is also good at all the lounges. We use it at the bar at Poly and Prime Time. Unlike your AP discount it is good on ALCOHOL!!!!. so for a romantic trip, you can visit a lot of places you wouldn't normally go with the kids. They have added more places it is good at, I think some counter service. We like to use it at ESPN on Boardwalk too.
Disneyzombie-Brenda 10
There is a list of places that give you an AP discount on Mousesavers, most are 10%. Also listed are a few places that give you a AAA discount.Have fun on your second Honeymoon!
DaveInTN 3,247
TiW saved us a ton the year we had AP's! For a family of 6 (at the time), it only takes a few meals to make up the $75.
