Glad Lou doesn't read TR's

He would be telling us how great monorails are, his love for monorails, how unique they are, _____ ( <-fill in something good about monorails here) how unreliable and expensive they are and that buses are better. Did Lou get turned down from being a monorail driver? ;D

LOL :rofl2: :rofl2:

I finally got caught up! I was so excited to see the Treehouse Villas! We stayed at Saratoga Springs for a few days on our last trip and tried to drive over to the villas. We were hoping that our room key would open the gate, but it didn't. Now I know that I could have taken a bus! I'm going to have to try that on our next trip.

I'm still enjoying your trip report. Loving the pictures!

I'm gonna back up just a bit and provide some comments on the villas. I meant to do it earlier, but the site was being finicky, so decided to post before I lost stuff.

The TH Villas are REALLY isolated. I'm not an advocate of using a car at Disney, but, at TH Villas, it's a long way to get anywhere!! First you have to take a bus or a boat to/from the Villas to the main Saratoga bus stops, then wait on a 2nd bus to the parks. You could walk, but as you saw, the walk is quite a ways through SSR to get to the nearest bus stop. Also, there is no dining or shopping at the TH Villas, so if you are not eating at your villa, then it's a ways to any of the facilities. If you need front desk services from Saratoga Springs, then once again, a hike or bus ride.

However, if you want peaceful isolation in the trees overlooking the golf course or the Sassagoula River, then the Villas may be right up your alley. I chatted with the folks in the pool, and they love the quiet, but agreed that if you wanted to spend a lot of time out and about, you needed a car.

The one thing I don't know is if you are staying at the Villas, can you drive over to the Main SSR and park somewhere to use the front desk, restaurant, store, pool, etc.

You had quite the adventurous day!

Thanks!! It was a nice afternoon!

Looks like quite an adventure you had around the world! The sky is beautiful in that last photo.

Keep it coming.

Thanks, more coming up soon!!!

Great update as always!

Thanks!

The TH Villas are quite unique aren't they!! Thanks for reading!

Quite an adventure! A burger, then a nice LONG walk afterward. That is right up my alley! Thanks for the wonderful tour of a couple resorts I've never visited before.

It was an adventure, but one correction, I don't WALK anywhere, strolling, meandering is more my style!!! It was my pleasure to provide the tour service!!

Those are some great pictures. I ams so glad you took a walk-a-bout thru wdw!

Thanks!!!

More to come in a minute!!!

When we last left off, I had aborted riding monorails all the way to Epcot, and hopped off at the Contemporary, and took a boat to the Fort.

Well it's a good thing I did!!

Looky what I see when our boat approaches the Fort!!!

IMG_8892.jpg

The Ferryboat was in training! They were training new pilots on how to dock at the Fort!!

IMG_8895.jpg

Unfortunately, the current pilot was having quite a bit of difficulty, BUT it made it fun to watch!!

Ooops, too far to port

IMG_8898.jpg

A little better

IMG_8899.jpg

Oooh, that looks pretty good

IMG_8900.jpg

Oooh, drifting starboard

IMG_8901.jpg

IMG_8902.jpg

IMG_8904.jpg

Correcting port

IMG_8905.jpg

Almost there....

IMG_8906.jpg

IMG_8907.jpg

IMG_8909.jpg

Dang, too far port

IMG_8912.jpg

Too dark, we'll try again another day :(

:rofl2: That poor pilot! Loved the photos!

Thanks!! Yeah, she looked like she was stressin

Great job on the ferryboat photos, Carol!

It was cool to see the boat trying to dock, and the setting sun and boat lights combine to make beautiful photos.

TCD

Thanks!!! Did you know those things could move sideways??!! I didn't. I'm guessing it's really hard to dock at the fort cause they don't have the big guiding channels like the MK and TTC do when they get close.

Yeah, I didn't realize until I posted them today how pretty those night shots were!!!

(I am seeing them pretty much the same time you do!!) I just upload to photobucket in a big batch and click through and copy links as I'm writing!

Free entertainment at Disney!! Love it!

It was fun!!

Now that's being in the right place at the right time! Neat!!

Yeah, I would have missed this if I had stayed on the monorail!!!

now I kinda feel sorry for her.....

Poor thing was having a time of it! The folks already there, said the other two trainees docked it really quickly!

OK, to continue on, all during the day, Rick was driving back to the Fort to bring me home on Friday. We had been speaking with each other and monitoring when he might arrive, so we could decide on dinner.

We finally determined that he would arrive early enough that we would go out to eat at WDW, so I then strolled through Settlement to catch a bus to Outpost (remember I had taken a bus to DTD earlier that afternoon). I needed to retrieve the golf cart. I then stopped at the front desk and made a reservation for Artist Point at 9:15. Worse case scenario, Rick would drive straight there and valet park, and I would catch a bus or boat over.

IMG_8916.jpg

After making the reservation, I retrieved the golf cart and headed back to the campsite.

Rick arrived in plenty of time, and after situating a couple of things, we walked over to the bus stop to catch the yellow bus directly to Wilderness Lodge.

IMG_8917.jpg

IMG_8918.jpg

IMG_8919.jpg

I started with the Smokey Portobello Soup

IMG_8922.jpg

For my entree I had Wild Caught Jumbo Prawn and Crab "Hot-Pot"

- with mussels, crispy pork, jasmine rice, and spiced Thai Coconut Broth

I had the broth on the side though.

IMG_8924.jpg

Rick had the Grilled Certified Hand-cut Prime Black Angus Beef Tenderloin

- with marble potatoes, garden beans, pearl onions and green peppercorn butter

IMG_8925.jpg

IMG_8926.jpg

IMG_8927.jpg

For desert, we split

IMG_8928.jpg

More pictures around the lodge

IMG_8929.jpg

IMG_8930.jpg

IMG_8931.jpg

IMG_8932.jpg

IMG_8933.jpg

IMG_8934.jpg

IMG_8935.jpg

And then we caught a bus back to our bus stop!

IMG_8936.jpg

We talked at the campsite for a bit, Rick was pretty tired from the drive, so off to the showers and bed!

And thus ends my WELAXATION portion of the trip. The next day was just packing up and heading home, and I'll wrap up in a couple more posts.

Nighty night!
