BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
From Screamscape...(2/27/12) Walt Disney World guests this week should be aware they could find the Express and Resort Monorail lines closed for up to 6-hours periods of time in the middle day on select days. This will allow for some much needed maintenance work to be done to the lines, as well as allow for some construction work with a crane at the GrandFlo to be done that would normally require the monorail to be closed anyway. Note: This is not related to the previously discussed cold-weather issue on the beamway over the Lagoon.http://www.screamscape.com/html/walt_disney_world_resort.htm#General

Lou... 3,118
Ok, just for Cherie. The "really cool looking" monorail is down so much that you won't be able to tell that it's down for whatever this story is talking about. So let's review:Normal tri-weekly breakdownsCold weather damage to track shut downSix hour shut downs for maintenance in the middle of the dayGF construction shut downEarly nightly shut down due to maintenanceThe question should be, when will it be running rather than when will it be down? Those guests that wrongly think they're paying more and stupid enough to do it, at the MR resorts because they have the MR, are going to be really upset.IMO, the best overall transportation setup at a resort in the "MK Resort Area" is at the WL and they don't have the "really cool looking" monorail. alexwyattmommy 181
The monorail is cool to look at, but I do have to agree with Lou. I like the transportation set up of the Wilderness Lodge best. It never felt like we waited long for a bus. Maybe once, but that was for a DownTown bus in the middle of the day. With both the boat and bus option to get to the MK, it was a good choice for our first trips. That and didn't cost an arm and a leg. Just the arm. :rofl2:

Lou... 3,118
Is that because the have a boat and you can see the EWP?Nope, not the boat. Going by boat is farly slow. It's the bus to MK that makes it a good situation. The WL is one of four resorts that get many more buses dispatched to it than all the others. The reason is that unlike most other company's shift schedules, bus transportation doesn't have a first, second, or third shift. Shifts start and end every 15 minutes throughout most of the day. When drivers are ending their shifts, in just about every case they can't do a regular length run because they wouldn't get back in time to clock out. But the WL run is so short that they can squeeze it in. So just about every 15 minutes and usually less, a bus driven by a driver that's close to going home is sent to the WL. Add to that the regularly scheduled buses and you have many more MK buses going to MK.The other resorts that have a similar situation are Pop to DHS, POP to Epcot, POFQ to DTD, and AKL to AK. alexwyattmommy 181
So then I wasn't crazy. It felt like there were more buses going to MK than any other park and we never waited very long for any of the parks.
