4mickey2 41 Posted October 21, 2011 Report Share Posted October 21, 2011 okay, i can start our tr now but, there will be time in between posting.. probably a lot of time. lolso, we left in prime milwaukee rush hour traffic. who cares- i am on the road.. :jumpforjoyit took a while to get through milwaukee.. hit chitown around 7:30pm and with the wind, rain we still had to deal with more traffic... but, again-who cares we headin' south! :wave1:it was really windy. strong wind warnings were out. but, the good news was---it was pushing us! we got into tn. before we needed fuel. i can't wait to see what we got for fuel mileage because that was one of the best mileages we have gotten on a tank. let's see...we really didn't have much excitement other than when we headed east and had the wind to our side. so, we pulled over at a truck stop just south of indy. all the spots were taken. so we went the long way like a few other trucks were. got the dogs out and got settled in for a couple hour nap.just laid down and the mh moves...jump up, open the window in the back--i see a semi trailer near our trailer but, not close enough to hit it. jeff runs to the front and can't see anything. he grabs his shoes and runs out by this time the truck that was next to us pulled out.all we can think of is he tried to get into a spot that opened by us and decided he couldn't get in. backed up and bumped us with tires of the cab. i am sure he was watching his mirrors-but, it was dark and raining. it wasn't a major hit---jeff didn't see any damage. so, he must of bumped us with his tires and in just the right spot. in the daylight-we didn't see any marks or anything. okay--we can move on now. 4mickey2 41 Posted October 21, 2011 Author Report Share Posted October 21, 2011 so, we get bakc on the road get through louisville, had some traffic before the bridge but, once through there it went smoothly. i love tn. and kentucky..we get into tn and we are just coming into nashville. we see a cop on the side of the highway and he pulls out in front of us and throws on his lights. stops all lanes of traffic and takes us along the highway at 10 mph... so, we call BOB and say "hey, thanks for the police escort. but, it really wasn't necessary".. :rofl2: so, we are wondering how long this is gonna take and what kind of accident did we just miss. in the mean time we are enjoying the skyline of nashville..another cop comes down 24 and stops the traffic that is merging.. in a few minutes we see a highway??? worker run across the road and the cops pull off to the side and we are on our way once again..woo hoo!!! we arrive at our first real night of camping.. BOB's rv resort! :)we go out to eat and meet up with FRANK and DENISE. we had a really great evening with Bob, Kathy, Frank and Denise It was great to have dinner with a few of the tn fiends. frank and denise are doing great and really wish they were coming. jeff helped bob with a furnace in his garage and hopefully bob will be able to run it this winter. he needs to keep making those AWESOME fiend signs ---it could take him all winter. went into mh about 10:30 and i was out.. not sure when jeff came out. had a good night sleep. Thank you bob and kathy!! it has been a great stay. not sure when we will be pulling out. will be sometime this afternoon-next stop florida border Quote Link to post Share on other sites

4mickey2 41 Posted October 23, 2011 Author Report Share Posted October 23, 2011 we were really able to take our time on the way down..can you tell? loltoday the water pump in the mh decided it wanted to act up. so, after some calls, dh decided he would just take it apart and see if he could fix it. he is really good at this stuff. we've got time to kill...so, we stop in a rest area. he takes the pump out. takes it apart on the table. cleans some connector & puts it back together. works again!gonna take off pretty soon. only about 4 hrs to the fort!!we're looking forward to seeing everyone. drive safe and hope you don't have any troubles along the way. I 'm glad your camper wasn't hurt.... my parents were actually hit by a bus a couple of years ago coming through Jax. It ripped a gash down the side of their camper.
