momof3kids-Yvonne 596
This is a great TR!! Makes me want to go on a cruise right now!!Me too and I have never really cared to much whether I went on one or not. My thought has always been if I did decide to go on a cruise I would want it to be an Alaskan cruise. Neither hubby nor I are huge beach lovers. The pictures on this trip report though are making me rethink things. I would still love to take an Alaskan cruise, but a cruise to the Bahamas on the Dream looks mighty tempting as well. mouseketab.....Carol 1,261
When we left off, we were getting ready for dinner and the show.Tonights show was "Villains Tonight" Looking through our pics, I guess we didn't take cameras to the show. But it was enjoyable. We always had time between the show and dinner for relaxing on the verandahTonight's dinner was at Animator's Palate. Our friends David and Buff swapped tables with Grumpy and Grandpa. I kindof felt bad cause that was the night Melissa and Marty chose to dine at Palo or Remy (forget which). That left them sitting by themselves. But they graciously agreed that our friends could sit with us :-)Here was our table markerThe walls in the dining room were decorated with great artworkThe plates were beautiful! You could buy one of the chargers for a mere $25 in the storeI had the squash soupRick had the potato soupHere is one of the appetizersWe forgot about the main course pictures, but here is desertOur friend David is NOT a Foodie, and didn't have ANYTHING for dinner on Sunday night, but the servers graciously offered him the kids menu for the rest of the cruise, so he had a Mickey Bar for desertAnimator's has a great Crush show during dinnerAfter dinner, we went to the adult lounge - EvolutionThere was a GREAT ventroliquist comedian there. Not a great picture, but he was hilarious!!After the show it was off to bedHere is a pic of our turndownComing tomorrow - Castaway Cay!! mgsmom 9
Great, great report! I've always wondered how Atlantis is - it's nice that you were able to visit but you weren't "stuck" there. :rofl2: Love the Mickey Bar - that is sooooooo the mgsmom crew. Not foodies either - I can relate. The pics of your food look beautiful though! Maybe I should branch out more...So, more questions like before - sounds like they have seating assignments for you at dinner? How many people are at each table for dinner? It seems like it would be fun to get seated with people you don't know and have a little fun chit-chatting! I'm a chatterbox, so that would be right up my alley.Great pics! I was looking at you relaxing on the veranda between dinner and the show and I think I have those same sandals! Great minds think alike... Can't wait for the next installment! We were seated at a table for 8, and 3 tables for 4, but very close. On our cruise we took 20 years ago, we were seated at a table for 8 with folks we'd never met. mouseketab.....Carol 1,261
You do look relaxed on that verandah! I like relaxing! How do you decide where to eat for the night? Is there food available all the time? It bothers me that your friend didn't eat.We do have assigned restaurants each night for our regular dining rotation. You also have the choice of booking the upcharge restaurant Palo or Remy for any night of your cruise. You can also order room service 24/7, or you can also go up to Deck 11 Cabanas and have a meal there. or go to Flos V8 Cafe and have fast food there.David did look at the menu at Royal Palace before dinner and he did order the steak for the night, but for some reason, I guess they couldn't get it well done enought for him. I think he did get some room service after dinner. So the main dining rooms are just one of MANY options for dinner,
mouseketab.....Carol 1,261
OK, folks since there are so many questions about meals and dining times, etc., this next update is more of a dining lesson. There are three main restaurants on board. There are two dining times - 5:45 and 8:15. When you book you request early dining or late dining, and each night of your cruise you are assigned a dining time and a restaurant, and a table. Requests to be seated together are made through your travel agent or through Disney Reservations if you booked yourself. However, you have MANY other dining options. At the main restaurants you can order as much or as little as you want. On some nights my DH ordered double entrees. You can also make special requests. For example, Grumpy (Dave) got into a conversation with our head waiter about a dish from his home country on the first evening. On the second evening, that dish was presented to him at dinner in addition to what he ordered. We passed it around our tables and all got a sample of it.Royal Palace - The Menu (These menus are pulled from AllEars.net and can change)SPECIALTY DRINKS (These drinks come with an extra charge)Double Crowned - Crown Royal, Chambord, Cointreau, Cranberry Juice, Sour Mix Imperial Illusion - Absolut Mandarin, Apple Pucker, Blue Curacao, Pineapple Juice Princess Delight - Passion Fruit Juice, Mango Puree (non-alcoholic) APPETIZERSPomegranate Glazed Duck Breast with Gerwurztraminer Gelee and Pomegranate GlazeDouble Baked Spinach Souffle - coated with a three cheese cream Escargots Gratines - herb-marinated snails with finely chopped mushrooms, topped with garlic butter and breadstick Iced Lobster and Jumbo Shrimp - white and green asparagus, micro greens, and lemon-dill dressing with horseradish cream SOUPS AND SALADS Avocado-Citrus Salad with Iceberg and Radicchio leaves and an orange vinaigrette The Comtesse du Barry's Soup - rich velvety cauliflower cream, topped with salmon caviar croutons Royal Market Green Salad - cherry tomato, cucumbers, peppered goat cheese, and a raspberry vinaigrette Belle's French Onion Soup with gruyere cheese crouton MAIN COURSE Royal Palace Aged Angus Grilled Beef Tenderloin and Lobster Medallions - sauteed snow peas and marquis potatoes with a cognac reductionOven-Baked Salmon Royale - Crowned with King Smoked Salmon and horseradish crust accompanied by sauteed swiss chard, truffle-infused cauliflower puree and white wine beurre blanc Roasted Wild Boar Tenderloin - sweet carrot and onion potato cake with a red currant reduction Grilled Farm-Raised Organic Chicken Breast Salad - romaine lettuce, herbed croutons, cherry tomatoes and a creamy parmesan dressing Double Cut Rack of Lamb with a Dijon Crust with fine green beans, gratin potatoes and rosemary jus Pan seared Tofu, Roasted Zucchini, Eggplant and Red Peppers on Israeli couscous with a lime-cilantro drop Baked Farm-Raised Organic Chicken Breast filled with escarole, raisins, and pine nuts on wild rice witha red wine reductionWild Mushroom Filled Pasta in a Vegetable Broth topped with watercress, shaved parmesan cheese and a paprika oil drizzleBaked Salmon and Oven-Roasted Chicken Breast available upon request.
