mouseketab.....Carol 1,261
I love all the pictures and I'm glad that the money was going to IBC!Yeah, the more I read, the scarier it sounds!!Glad you scored a site right in the heart of things. What a worthy cause! Kudos to the Tearjerkers for raising money to fight breast cancer! :heart:Yeah, I was lucky. The organizers assigned the sites. I think it was first come/first served as folks registeredCarol-I am enjoying your report. It looks like these folks really know how to host an event.I'll bet it won't be long before we see one of these tear-drop events at the Fort!TCDYou know, I thought about it, but from reading the teardrop forums, there is really not that much interest in Disney. This is more of a nature group. For some of these folks, it's about getting as far back in the woods as they can. After years of towing a 32 footer, there is a lot of good to say about these small compact but very functional trailers. I also am a huge fan of the woodwork and craftsmanship demonstrated on these!Yeah, I love my little T@B. You know it was mentioned in another trip report about the difficulty of taking the big trailers through some of the mountain roads. I have successfully driven my T@B on the Blue Ridge Parkway from Asheville, NC to Townsend, TN. Didn't feel stressed at all about driving that road!!
Tri-Circle-D 2,059
You know, I thought about it, but from reading the teardrop forums, there is really not that much interest in Disney. This is more of a nature group. For some of these folks, it's about getting as far back in the woods as they can.I see that from the photos. These folks like they are more into camping than most of the folks who visit the Fort, who are more into the theme park/restaurant experience. It looks like a fun bunch, though.TCD
mouseketab.....Carol 1,261
After the wine and cheese, I settled in for the night with a movie. Oh a note, there is no cable at this campground and was only able to get limited off air signal from my antenna, mostly a few PBS stations. Verizon phone service worked, but T-Mobile was kinda sketchy. I was able to get internet from my work-provided Verizon air card, but NADA on my T-Mobile service on my droid. The next morning there was a big pancake and sausage breakfast. I overslept and stumbled outside almost at the end of breakfast in my Mickey Mouse pajama bottoms and t-shirt to grab my breakfast carrying my Snarky mug. I was about to grab a couple of regular pancakes from the stack, but was told "Wait, I have to make you a special pancake" Well, in my fuzzy still sleepy state, I could not imagine what that was, then I was presented with the prettiest Mickey Pancake you ever saw!!! I thought that was soooo sweeet. As I said, I was still sleep addled, so no pictures :-(
scooterminnie...paula 20
Being from Indiana(about 40 miles from McCormick Creek State Park) and camping at the park many times. It is great seeing the pictures. That park has many hiking trails and a small waterfalls the kids use to play in. I miss IN for the great camping. Keep the pictures coming.
mouseketab.....Carol 1,261
After breakfast and having lovely conversations with lots of good folks, I got dressed (in my purple Snarky t-shirt) and went out to get more trailer pictures. Here are a few more. I'll feature the T@Bs that attendedThis is what my T@B looked like before I decorated it:A big screen room:These folks work and live in their T@B almost full time. (I found out later, they were on their own bucket list tour)Some pretty streamers on their awningAnyway, on to the story. As I was wandering around, one of the folks asked me if that was a Disney shirt?? Now, I know we are working hard to get the word out, but I was kinda lost as to how she associated Snarky with Disney. She then said, "That's the Disney font" I would recognize it anywhere!! So we had a wonderful conversation about Disney and their family travels there and Fort Wilderness. Cards were handed out, and the conversation also turned to wanting to camp, but didn't want to pull the camper. (This family actually had a popup, not a tiny trailer.) They mentioned renting a camper once they arrived, and I also took the chance to plug Donnie's site. They came by my camper later that afternoon and said that they had already looked over www.makecampingeasy.comAfter wandering that afternoon and finally getting pictures of all the small trailers, I went back to the camper to start my crockpot. Tonight was the big potluck!!! And if you think fiends put on a spread, whooooeeeeee, there was some good eatin.

thecplusplusguy 7
There's a lot of Dutch ovens on that table. I've always wanted to try those.Dan

LORNADUCK 261
how Kewl that they made u a Mickey pancake so thoughtful. I can't believe the amount of dutch ovens, I don't even know how to use one, guess that because I am not a real camper and am so spoiled with all the conviences of home, instead of figuring out how to make a meal without a gas grill and microwave!!! mouseketab.....Carol 1,261
So...Tearjerkers are into nature and food, and FortFiends are into Disney and adult beverages. Is that right?Oh, and I know this sounds stereotypical, but the Tennessee bunch is into pickin.....They get together every evening. There is a fiddle, a couple of guitars, a mandolin, a harmonica, and they all start playin and singin Andy Griffith style :-)There was a big bunch from all over that got together here. They put on a pretty good show from what I could hear.
mouseketab.....Carol 1,261
To continue on, after the potluck, everybody cleaned up and headed back to the their campers to wash dishes and get ready for MOVIE NIGHT!!One of the Indiana directors has a movie screen setup and at dark after the potluck generally shows a movie. Now, in Indiana just east of the timezone line, dark is almost 10pm!!!I didn't actually sit and watch the movie, cause I decided to go ahead and break camp so I could get an early start the next morning, but I could hear it. The Movie was Back to the Future Part I, which I've seen dozens of times, so listening was all the same to me. I got all broke down and hitched up, so all I had to do the next morning is unplug electric and cover the AC vent.Nighty, night
