Lou... 3,118
I'll be interested to see how they handle the bus stop at the parks and DTD as they are at a premium.Because of AOA's size, it's assumed that it will not share buses with any other resort and that it will need a dedicated stop. alexwyattmommy 181
Maybe the first opening of only one section might end up sharing with POP. But once the whole thing is open, that would be very uncomfortable. Lots of people to get from one place to another. We had first thought about this place because it would be first opened during our weeks. We were pretty sure would have been the first people inside the room. After the lack luster rooms at WL the last two visits, DH swore he would never pay prices for used poorly kept rooms again. The pricing however, it was hard to justify. But now you all know the true reason why he came home one day and said, "let's go look at trailers". If we are going to stay in filth, let it be our own filth. =)
we3peas 12
Can I just say I HATE the carpeting! Way too busy for my taste, and if you drop something on it you'll never find it again! I like my rooms calming and relaxing not like popping a speed pill...
Lou... 3,118
Maybe the first opening of only one section might end up sharing with POP. My guess is that AOA will not share with Pop when they first open because we're still talking four or five hundred rooms. The bus situation at Pop is maxed out as it is. When a bus leaves Pop for a park in the morning, it's usually full. During the other times of the day I can see it.Also the bus fleet and number of drivers has grown significantly over the past year in anticipation of AOA and the GF DVC coming on line. Good for me because I've moved up in seniority.I'm sure that if you've been to WDW over the last year you've seen buses with words "in training" on the marquee. There are a ton of newbie drivers and that's not good for you guys that ride the buses. Grumpy and Grandma 740
There are a ton of newbie drivers and that's not good for you guys that ride the buses. That's why we drive except when going to MK.
Lou... 3,118
That's why we drive except when going to MK. The good news is that because those new drivers for the most part don't have any seniority, they all work the shifts that the veteran drivers, me, don't want. And those are the later shifts, so you're ok if you're using the buses during the daytime hours. Also the AM bus runs are more complex than the PM runs and you have the more experienced drivers doing the AM runs. Marquee Installation Marks WDW Record at Art of Animation ResortFeb 22, 2012 by wdwntadmin 1 Comment Posted under: ResortsFrom Jennifer Fickley-Baker on the Disney Parks Blog:I’m happy to start off the week by sharing a fun update on Disney’s Art of Animation Resort.Last week, Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) put the finishing touches on the new resort’s marquee. Measuring in at 46 feet, six inches, the resort’s sign now holds the record as the largest freestanding marquee at Walt Disney World Resort. (Incidentally, it’s 18 inches taller than the famous “HOLLYWOOD” sign in Los Angeles, Calif.).The photo, supplied by WDI, shows three layers of development the marquee went through in its creation – from digital design, to model, to full-scale installation.Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, which will feature four wings dedicated to popular films Finding Nemo, Cars, The Lion King and The Little Mermaid, will open in phases beginning May 31.http://wdwnewstoday.com/archives/8792

BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
From Orlando Attractions Magazine... A look from above at the construction progress of Disney’s Art of Animation ResortMar 72012 Filed under: Disney, Resorts, Walt Disney World Posted by: Matt Roseboom\Disney’s Art of Animation Resort will be opening in stages, with the first section opening this May. The resort will feature many family suites and some standard rooms (opening Dec. 31). The resort will offer three swimming pools and four playful courtyards — one for each section of the resort. The suite sections include Finding Nemo, Lion King and Cars. The Little Mermaid section will feature the standard rooms. Let’s take a look down at the construction progress. Click on any of the photos to view them larger. The entrance to the new resort is just down the street from the Pop Century Resort. In fact, this area and some of the buildings were originally going to be part of the Pop Century. From the street, you can see a new sign has been put up. You can also see the resort is located on the new Animation Way.Back in the air, you can see a similar sign has been put up at the lobby entrance. The Disney Parks Blog reported the sign is 46 feet, six inches long and it is the largest freestanding marquee at Disney World, and 18 inches taller than the famous Hollywood sign in Los Angeles. The first wing to open (on May 31) will be the Finding Nemo area. As you can see, it looks just about ready to go. This will be the largest pool at the resort. The bridge at the top of the photo leads to the Pop Century resort. One of the buildings has a huge Mr. Ray just outside the door.A huge Crush is just across from Mr. Ray outside the other building. There’s less to see at the other wings. This will be the Lion King section. It will be the only section without a swimming pool. This will be The Little Mermaid section. This wing will house the standard rooms. The Cars area looks like it will probably be the second area to open, and a lot of fun. Below are some more photos of the Cars area:As we were flying above the resort, reader Dani Dennison-Perez saw this pass her on the highway, on its way to the cars section of the Resort. Here’s our video of the resort flyover:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LDB5fjyCc4For more information about the resort, visit Click Here to visit Disney World’s website.http://attractionsmagazine.com/blog/2012/03/07/a-look-from-above-at-the-construction-progress-of-disneys-art-of-animation-resort/#more-12020
