Everybody knows squirreldogs don't eat corn.Oh that explains it, I thought it was a dogsquirrel, not a squirreldog, now I understand, I don't want any parts of a quirreldog, I have heard that they are mean and usually untrainable! Tri-Circle-D 2,059
Well, we have all learned an important lesson here:NO more intermissions in a TCD TR!Let's get back on track.Where we left off, I had just done a little looking around in the area of the old Fort Wilderness Railroad. And now we are heading back to the Bike Barn. This shot is taken from the canal, looking up the bank. All of these weeds had died back over the winter, but they will soon form a solid wall of vegetation that will make it difficult to walk through this area:Likewise, the vines have started growing and covering the trees and other plants along the banks:Did you ever here the saying "Nature abhors a vacuum?"I remember hearing it in my High School Physics class. It is amazing the things that we remember, isn't it?Anyway, I always think of that saying when I look at how nature will try to fill every available open space in Florida. For example, look how the plants grow right up to the canal here:There is no open space anywhere along the canal here- the vegetation grows everywhere that it can. Here we are back out on the canal, heading toward the 1500 loop:The sign on the left bank directs us back toward the Bike Barn. If you look up on the right bank, you can see a split rail fence. That is the 1500 loop. If you follow along the canal from there, you can make out some RV's and awnings on the 1600 and 1800 loops, which also back up to this canal:Now we are turned to head into the canal that joins the main canal here. This smaller canal will take us back to the Bike Barn:You can see the old supports for the footbridge that used to cross here at the top of the bank on the left:Here we are approaching the bridge for the main road. This bridge is between the 1500 loop and the driveway that enters the Meadow Pool area just past the tennis courts:This is the footbridge that leads from the 1500 loop to the Meadow Pool. It is much longer than the footbridge at the 600 loop:This is one of my favorite photos from the canoe trip. I love how the sun is catching the last of the morning mist. That is the 1500 loop bus stop there toward the bottom of the photo:You can see the 1500/1600 loop comfort station in this photo:And here's one more shot of the same general area (looking toward the 1500 loop from the canal):OK, now notice the cross-walk sign in these photos? If you look just to the right of that sign, you can see a campsite set up in the 1500 loop.Well, that is site 1503- and that is the TCD tarp and camper:Here we are just a bit further down the canal. You can see the TCD campsite off on the right:And here we are turned a bit to the back of the canoe, you can see the footbridge, and the bus stop across the street:And, here we have one more shot from the same spot, with a couple of people walking by for perspective:Now we have made the turn around the open field in the Meadow area, and we are on the home stretch back to the Bike Barn. Here is a look toward the pool:And, here we are a bit closer to the pool:Here is a look back toward the road from this spot:And, yet another look at the pool. Be sure to notice the Egret standing along the canal bank:Here we are headed back to the Bike Barn. The 1300 loop is on the left in this photo:We are almost back to the Bike Barn. This is the bridge that goes from behind the Meadow Trading Post to the pool area. That is the big Sycamore tree that we looked at earlier there on the left. This photo helps illustrate how big that tree is:The Meadow Pool is over here on the right:After crossing under the bridge, we are now in the Fishin' Hole area between the Meadow Trading Post and the Bike Barn. And, since we are in a canoe, we can finally take a good look at that thing that is floating out in the lake here. And, here it is:Using my powers of deduction, I have concluded that this is a fish feeder.Maintained by the Reedy Creek Improvement District Department of Environmental Services. It looks like it has a solar panel on it.Why?Who puts the food in there? What kind of food is it?GAG chicken skin? Are there any other fish feeders on property?I want to know more. There's a phone number there on the sign.It says to call for more information. If you can't read it, it is 407-824-7301.I called the number.I thought maybe there would be a recording. But a real person answered the phone.I didn't have my questions ready. So, I told him that I had dialed the wrong number.Maybe when I have time, I will call back, and provide you with some more information.Or, if anyone wants to earn a TCD Junior Deputy Badge, he or she could call the number and ask a few questions, and let us know.Next up, I bring the canoe back.It is now about 9:45 am on Sunday morning. It has turned out to be quite a day already. But, we are just getting started.TCD
doodlebug....Cherie 461
Well it's nice to be back on track. Great pictures. I am a little disappointed in the fish feeder it doesn't scream Disney does it

kampfirekim 260
Glad you're back. As much as I love hippies... I love a good TR even more. I'm on Rx meds... so I'll put off calling the fish feeder number until I'm done with them. I want to be coherent when asking my questions. .As always.... great photos.
