Judy in Texas 150
Had a quick business trip to Charlotte, NC... in Thursday and out Friday. We had a reception at the NASCAR Hall of Fame which was right around the corner from the hotel. This is the back of the building. Here are two murals up close.Once inside they direct you to the lower level for a short (well done) movie about the history of NASCAR... moonshine to current. A ramp circles the main floor, leading to the second floor. It is used to display famous race cars. This is what it looks like at 33 degrees banking. Here are a few of the cars. Judy in Texas 150
This is probably the most famous car. There are markers on the ramp showing the banking at that point with plaques describing a track with that particular banking. Here is the Bristol plaque and the 30 degree marker. The Hall of Fame displays are on the second floor at the top of the ramp. Here is the display at the end of Bud Moore's display. Judy in Texas 150
There are quite a few displays for people important to NASCAR. Here is Bobby Allison's. That's his elementary school band uniform. Bronze statues of the men who collaborated to start NASCAR.The original orange Phillips 76 Spotterball from Daytona.A full-sized car and stuff hauler.A big a$$ tool box with an observation platform on top.Examples of timing equipment. Judy in Texas 150
If you are going to try your hand at the race simulators ($5), make sure to go to qualifying school first(it's free)to learn how the simulators work. If you don't want to spend the $$ on the simulator, you still get to have some of the fun. The simulators are in real looking race cars. Here is a display of car safety equipment. This is the original Dale Earnhardt accident report.
Judy in Texas 150
Try your hand at a timed pitstop.Uniforms line the stairway to the third floor. What is a museum without a gift store. The NASCAR Hall of Fame is very well done; but, I understand that it is not being well attended. If you are a NASCAR fan and will be in the Charlotte area, make sure you stop by. Even if you aren't a NASCAR fan, you might enjoy it. The End.

Judy in Texas 150
Thanks! The NASCAR Hall of Fame has its own parking garage. I neglected to ask, though, if it would accommodate smaller RV's or travel trailers. Here is the link to their website if you would like to research further. http://www.nascarhall.com/
