devores 382
Allrighty then,Day two starts out with DW having school, which means I have more time to explore. I start out at the beachYou ever notice how the sand is always so perfect at the beach? You ever wonder how it gets that way? Well, here is the answer....This guy goes back and forth raking the sand into perfection. I head over to the old Tri Circle D ranch to see whats going on over there. These ponies came running to the fence when I rode up and started possing as if they wanted me to take thier pictures. There was also 3 trucks and trailers here, waiting on thier passangers I assume. Where could they be going? Well, after talking to a few CMs who were obviously enjoying thier job of mucking the stalls,I find out that there is a huge wedding at the Grand Floridian, complete with Cinderellas Horse Drawn carriage. That is where the horses were being taken to. Kind of neat. Inside is the cylypso or whatever. If you push the button, you can here it play. Im sure its a recording, but sounds good. A quick trip to check out the pooland I notice, mornings are for Fort maintenanceWhat is going on here? Lets take a closer lookHe has somesort of machien and is scrubbing the sidewalk. I love how the 600 loop looks from the bike barnAnd who is this? Is this TCD's painter? But thats not a barrel or trash can. He was painting the site markers in the 600 loop. One by one, he worked his way down the loop.I did some looping, but found nothing of interest today. It was getting late though, about 1300, and I had to rush home. The next 3 hours were spent doing thisThe Tampa Bay lightning beat the Boston Bruins in game 4 today (sorry Lou).....Right as the game ended, there is a knock on the door. Lou had topped by for a few mins. 3 fiends in one trip. We decided to head to the Poly (I know I know, its a bad word) for some dessert, before dinner. We took the boat to the MK and then the monorail to the Poly.Of course we have to have the obligatory RC shotsWe get to the Poly just as the torch lighting ceremony starts, so we decide to watch it. We have never seen this before (even though DW works there) and it was pretty cool. This is chief. He comes out and announces the end of the day by blowing in a conk shell (not in the 1300 loop)Then he lights the torches linning the entrance to the PolyThen he eats fireThen he spins the fire aroundWe had some dole whip and headed back to the fort. We had the boat all to ourselves, so it was a nice leasurly ride back. We then stopped by TE and got some nachos for dinner. If you have never tried the nachos here before, I highly recommend them. Im sure to pay for them later, but they are so yummy.Day 3 will be the whole reason for this trip, Star Wars Weekends at DHS. I yearly tradition of ours. Its gonna be a long day...... stefa70 205
Nice! I've never seen the torch lighting either. Any man that has dessert BEFORE dinner, is a good man, in my book. :jumpforjoy "blowing in a conch shell"
Tri-Circle-D 2,059
Great job on this report!!!Devores earned his TCD Junior Deputy Badge last year. And this report proves it was well deserved!Yes, the path you tried to follow by the cabin is part of the old Wilderness Swamp Trail. There used to be a path that branched off to the left, which led to the boardwalk. The path that you walked down was the alternate path that led to the other end of the boardwalk. You showed me something new in these photos:I didn't know that there was pavement installed around one of the firepits at the campfire. The last time I visited the campfire area, which was in March, we used the firepit shown in your second photo, above. This is how both firepits used to look. But, clearly, one of them no longer has the wood railing around it, and it looks like there is a circle paved around it. Maybe to make it accessible for special needs visitors? I don't know when this was done, and maybe it was already done when we visited in March, but this is new! And so is the lid!TCD
devores 382
The problem with doing a Live TR is finding time to reply to all of the replies. I have been neglecting it for a bit, but let me finish up this report then Ill get to the comments.Day 3 started out early. We were out the door by 0700 and at DHS by 0730. The park wasnt supposed to open until 0800, but when we arrived, the gates were allready opened and the ropes were allready dropped. No line at all for the turnstiles. When we got there, the imperials were allready controlling the park.We head straight to star tours to see how the line is. Zero wait. So we grab some fastpasses and walk onto the ride for ride 7. We had planned on skipping the ride all together since we rode it for the soft opening, but who could resist a walk on?After the ride we head to RNR, on our way to Jabbas Hutt. Zero wait. We didnt even get to see the movie they play in the que. Walked right on through. By 0800 we had completed two rides and walked into Jabbas Hutt. This is just some of the displays in the Hutt.DW had dresed Duffy up as a Jedi for SWW (which was a big hit amongst all) but we ran into a family that had the same idea. They had some bears (not Duffys) dressed as various Star Wars characters and we had to get a photo op.We head out $100 poorer and go to find our annual photo op....they moved it on us this year and we had to search for it, but finnaly found it.Since we had some time, we do the character circut. DW calls me the stalker because I know the character schedules and where they come out of the backstage area. I wait in the area and when they come out, start snapping pics. I like pics of just the characters and they seem to interact with you more when they are walking to thier photo locations, even though they cannot stop. So you get some good pics. Here are a few...After wasteing some time, we get ready for the parade. I think I hit the pics limit so this will continue on another post....

devores 382
I was highley dissapointed with the parade this year. They cut the route in half and it just went from the park entrance to the hat. It was jampacked. We found a good spot 2 hours prior. There are only 2 things we must do for SWW, the parade and Hyperspace Hoopla, so we wanted good seats. This spot was not as good as my super secret spot from years past, but I was still able to get some good shots. For those not familiar, the parade is made up of the 501st. This is a group of people who are star wars fanatics. They make all of thier own costumes. All of the storm troopers and characters are homemade costumes. They do the parade every year and are requested by Disney. After the parade, we wonder around a bit to kill some time. We escape the heat in One Man's Dream. While out and about, we run into more characters. The thing I like about SWW is the characters get to mingle with the guests. As you can see, my TRs can easily hit the pic limit, so continued on another post......
devores 382
We got in line for the Stars of the Saga show. This is an interview type show, which is kind of boring, but the opening show is what we go for. The storm troopers do a slapstick style show at the begging. Not to mention its air conditioned in the theater, so we stayed for the whole show. After the show, we grabbed some dinner and got ready for the Hyperspace Hoopla. In years past, they held this at the stage next to Star Tours, but it was way too small. People were continualy getting hurt and you were packed in like sardines. This year, they put a stage in front of the Sorrcerer hat and held it there. They also videoed the show and played it live on the screen outside of AI. Which was a great decision. But, of course, my pic limit forces me to yet another post. So stay tuned.....

PureTcrazy...rita 380
I am loving the Star Wars pics! I know what you mean about trying to keep up with replies, I wasn't good at it either!
devores 382
Ok,The Hyperspace Hoopla is what makes SWW. If you have never seen it, you must at least once. As I said earlier, the had it at the main stage this year and broadcast it live on the AI jumbo tron, which allowed more people to see it without trampling each other. We got a spot right up front, if you want a good spot, show up at least an hour and a half early. And if youre interested in watching the show, here is a link.http://youtu.be/Ps0ZV_Fut48After the show, we headed over to Fantasmic. I never get tired of watching it. We were kind of late so ended up sitting on the far left of the stadium, which ruins the magic some. We could see all the transitions clearly and learned how they make them. If you are curious on how they accomplish the set changes, sit on the far ends and watch closely. The next morning DW had work. It left me with some time to sleep in and pack up. I left the Fort right at 1100 and was home by 1130, set back up by 1200 and drinking a beer by 1300. And that is the end of our weekend away.......
devores 382
No encore performance in the 1300 Loop :rofl2:No, they must have packed up and left after being caught in the act. I never did see them again. I dont know who was more embarrased, them or me.

And to everyone who has enjoyed my photos. I shoot allot of pics, everywhere I go I have my camera, but I am no expert. I take allot of pics to get that one good one.
