Travisma 1,317
According to the Walt Disney World refurbishment calendar, Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat will both undergo an extensive refurbishment beginning October 5th. While the nature of the work is not yet known, the refurbishment is listed through early 2021, which indicates that there will be an extensive amount of work. If we had to speculate, the length of the work could signal a draining of the Rivers of America to access the track that the Liberty Square Riverboat runs along. We saw the Rivers of America drained back in August 2018 as crews worked on a section of the river. It’s possible that the refurbishment work could target a different section of the river from Splash Mountain past Big Thunder Mountain, which would cut off access to Tom Sawyer Island. Of course, this is just speculation based on the length of the refurbishment. Disney has not announced the nature of the work yet.
BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
Starting to sound like it's going to be "refurbish all (or at least a bunch) of the things" time for a while. Makes sense to do it while crowds are low and before the 50th next year. djsamuel, keith_h and dblr....Rennie
