He's from Alabama according to another article. Richard McGuire, 42, from Mobile, Alabama was arrested on April 30 after camping on Walt Disney World's Discovery Island, according to an arrest report acquired by USA TODAY. He was banned from all Disney properties and charged with a misdemeanor for trespassing. Edited May 2, 2020 by Grumpy and Grandma Added info

Somehow I don't think this guy is either. But something, actually quite a few things, in this story just don't add up - https://www.foxnews.com/us/disney-world-trespass-suspect-viewed-discovery-island-as-tropical-paradise-authorities-say "A man arrested at Disney World in Florida last week for attempting to quarantine from the coronavirus on Discovery Island viewed the small park-owned island as a "tropical paradise," authorities say." So he somehow knew the island was there and was a "tropical paradise" but didn't know that it's WDW private property and has been for more than 50 years? "A Disney security representative said she asked the agency to press charges after she saw McGuire using a company boat to get to the island." Do they leave the keys in all the boats? And supposedly they caught him sleeping in a building and he'd been out there for a couple/few days, but Disney security saw him take the boat out there. So they waited a day or two before bothering to investigate? And then there's this... "Suspect Richard McGuire, 42, told Orange County Sheriff's deputies he had been on the island since Monday or Tuesday and had planned to camp there for a week" Um... he doesn't know if he got there Monday or Tuesday? Tri-Circle-D 2,059
I agree with Mo- the boat thing doesn’t make sense. What kind of boat are we talking? If he took a company boat to the island, what did he do with it when he got there? I imagine he couldn’t have left it tied up at the dock. TCD
rjpete 8
My belief is that he was a cast member at one time, or he was familiar with how to get a boat from a present cast member. this story is familiar with every other trespassing case, they knew what to do to have access to a restricted area. He is not the only party to this scheme; there is either an insider or he used his previous knowledge of the park resources (where to find boat keys, etc.}
