Rovahale 0
Needing help finding a location for a marriage proposal in Fort Wilderness. We are staying in a cabin in Jan 20. Is there a “Romantic or Secluded spot” within walking distance in or close to Fort Wilderness? The proposal will be mid-day so firework cruise is out and the carriage ride will be closed for refurbish. I have researched the internet and called WDW and can’t find anything. Ideally a trail or location with a clearing that is pretty would be ideal. Private is great but will take whatever we can find. hoping someone with some grounds knowledge will know of possible locations. A map would be great if possible. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. This will be our first time at Fort Wilderness. Thank you Edited November 21, 2019 by Rovahale
Travisma 1,317
This past weekend the carriage ride was open, but the wagon ride is closed
Rovahale 0
I called and they said the carriage rides were closed at Fort Wilderness until April but running at Port Orleans. I am looking for something or a location that is walking distance from the cabins. Thank you for responding.
Travisma 1,317
Odd, the sign was up on Sunday but the wagon sign was down. Maybe they stopped on Monday.
Rovahale 0
Not sure about now but I was told they are definitely closed in January. Thank you very much for responding. I even tried google earth but can’t tell much from it.
Duane 152
We were at the Fort last week and an "empty" carriage (no passengers in the back) came through the 1300 loop on two separate days... Not sure if they were just out exercising the horse, the carriage and/or the driver, but they were out...

I think they were just exercising them.
BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
This is going to sound odd, but if you're looking for secluded, the dog walk along the canal behind the 300 loop is pretty nice. It's grassy and if you go down towards the end (past the campers) it's pretty much you, the canal and the trees. The only trick might be timing it when no one is walking their dog out there, but it's really not all that busy most of the time and and we've rarely run into dogs all the way down at the end. I second this for a walking option. The other 2 ideas I have are to go to the Meadows and rent a canoe it's like $13 then you will paddle back to some secluded areas. Or go to the lake and rent a pontoon boat and it would be just the 2 of you on the lake. Which you could pick the location from by Fort Wilderness or near the Magic Kingdom. Rovahale 0
Those are both excellent suggestions. That is the kind of insider information I was hoping for I will investigate into those for sure. Thank you again very much.

When we were there Veterans weekend, the sign for the carriage ride was still up, but the one for the wagon ride was missing.
