BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
Since it seems like there may be a fair bit of WDW coming out this weekend, might as well give it it's own thread. From last night's preview event ... and I LOVE these posters!! Quote New Epcot attractions posters, new logo unveiled at the D23 Expo preview IN DISNEY, EPCOT, WALT DISNEY WORLD Posted on August 23, 2019 by Becky Burkett Credit: Bailee Abell / Inside the Magic Disney has just revealed some of the all-new posters for Walt Disney World’s Epcot at D23 Expo. The posters, created by pop-culture artists Eric Tan and Stacey Aoyama, are now on display at D23 Expo. Let’s take a closer look! Tan, who has been a designer for Disney Consumer Products for over 15 years as has his wife, created these vividly-colored posters that depict many of Epcot’s attractions from days gone by that are no longer at the park, such as Norway’s Maelstrom, Kitchen Karbaret, Communicore, Wonders of Life, and the Universe of Energy attraction that was recently reimagined to make room for the Guardians of the Galaxy attraction. Credit: Bailee Abell / Inside the Magic Other Epcot attractions posters by Tan and Aoyama on display tonight at the D23 Expofeature current attractions at the park, such as Turtle Talk with Crush, Frozen Ever After, and the Gran Fiesta Tour starring the Three Caballeros. Other current experiences depicted in the posters include the soon-to-be extinct Illuminations nighttime show and the Seas with Nemo and Friends attraction in Future World. Credit: Bailee Abell / Inside the Magic Even more of the new Epcot attraction posters that celebrate the future of the park are also on display. The artwork in these posters makes the future seem like it’s right around the corner. One of the vibrant posters depicts the new Ratatouille-themed attraction soon to open at the France pavilion on the World Showcase. Credit: Bailee Abell / Inside the Magic In the photos, you’ll notice a few spots that read “Revealing Sunday” and it’s those blank spots that have us most excited. We will have to wait until the end of the Expo to see what’s depicted in those spots as coming attractions. In this photo, you can see the first attraction that was revealed. It’s a brand-new experience called Journey of Water, and as you can see the poster and the attraction are inspired by Disney’s Moana. You can also see Epcot’s new logo at the bottom of each poster. The logo was also revealed at the D23 Expo preview. BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
From WDWMagic, with more info about the Moana attraction. Quote PHOTOS - Epcot's new central spine design revealed in new concept art Disney has revealed concept art for the new central spine redevelopment of Epcot - which will see major changes to the center of the park in what is currently Future World. Future World as we know it will be gone, and will be replaced with three “neighborhoods” - World Nature, World Discovery and World Celebration. Epcot new central spine concept art At the center, Innoventions West will be completely removed, and in its place will be a new meet and greet building to replace Character Spot, a large multi-level festival center complete with rooftop bar and lounge, and a walk-through garden area with an elaborate water feature called 'Journey of Water Inspired by Moana.' Journey of Water Inspired by Moana On the other side, the existing eastern buildings will remain, but with extensive remodeling, and will become home to a quick service restaurant, an expanded Mouse Gear, the relocated Starbucks and Club Cool, and a couple of smaller Food and Beverage offerings including the much-talked about Beer Garden. Model of the new Epcot central spine As you can see from the artwork, the new central area to be much more landscape heavy with trees and gardens replacing much of the existing concrete. Winding pathways will replace the main central guest corridor. We’re extending the celebration to all four Resort theme parks with amazing attraction openings, new entertainment, food and beverage, merchandise and more. And today at D23 Expo 2019, Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products Chairman Bob Chapek unveiled new details on some exciting guest offerings coming to the Walt Disney World Resort for the 50th Anniversary and beyond. Here’s a roundup of what’s to come: An all-new Star Wars vacation experience is coming to the Walt Disney World Resort! Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will be a new, first-of-its-kind vacation experience where guests will check in for a two-night adventure aboard a glamorous starship. Once onboard, guests will interact with characters and become active participants in stories that unfold around them on their galactic journey. At Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, both children and adults will have the opportunity to face off against a training remote while wielding a lightsaber like Luke Skywalker did as he was learning to use The Force. For more details, visit our Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser story from D23 Expo. Also at Walt Disney World Resort, we’ve got big plans for our multi-year transformation of Epcot, with new experiences that will make the park more Disney, more family, more timeless and more relevant to the millions of guests who visit each year. The park will be unified with four neighborhoods that each celebrate a unique aspect of what makes Epcot so special. Where Future World currently stands, three new neighborhoods will spring up: World Celebration, World Discovery and World Nature. And World Showcase will continue to celebrate culture, cuisine, architecture and traditions from around the world. At World Celebration in Epcot, Spaceship Earth will remain the park’s grand icon but the journey will be transformed with new scenes reflecting the universal nature of the human experience. A new guide and all new narration will focus on the storytelling that brings people together. World Celebration in Epcot will also feature breathtaking views at Dreamers Point, lush gardens, a wishing tree, an interactive new fountain and a new statue celebrating the legacy of the original dreamer, Walt Disney. A new pavilion at World Celebration will be the home base for Epcot’s signature festivals, providing a stunning view of World Showcase and an ideal spot to witness the park’s nighttime spectacular. This three level structure will have one of the most remarkable designs at any Disney park. At the World Discovery neighborhood in Epcot, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will feature the first reverse launch into space! The thrilling, family-friendly attraction will feature a never-before-seen storytelling coaster that rotates to focus on the action – wherever it may be. Also, an expansion of the Mission: SPACE pavilion, the new restaurant Space 220, will open this winter as an out-of-this-world culinary experience with the celestial panorama of a space station, including daytime and nighttime views of Earth from 220 miles up. In World Showcase, we’ll welcome the first attraction inspired by Mary Poppins in Cherry Tree Lane, which will join the United Kingdom pavilion as an entirely new neighborhood! In the China pavilion, “Wondrous China” will take guests on a spectacular journey across China, filmed and presented in a completely seamless 360-degree digital format. The film “Canada Far and Wide in Circle-Vision 360” will debut in January 2020 in the Canada pavilion with new scenes and a new story. The France pavilion will offer even more for guests to discover, including a new “Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along” in January 2020. It will celebrate how the music of Disney inspires people the world over. At D23 Expo, we shared a first look at the newly themed Chinese Theater that will be home to Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway when it opens at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in spring 2020. The story telling and car rotation sounds a lot like what Universal does with their Escape From Gringotts coaster which is good in my mind. I also like the idea roof top bar. Hopefully it will be open to patrons for the fireworks similar to the California Grill.
