stacktester 78
I was at the fort yesterday and ran into a duty manager named Doug. We talked for about an hour concerning the pool, golf carts and general rules. I asked him what could be done about the pool because I caught a bus at the 1700 loop headed torward the settlement and there were so many people with huge coolers I could hardly walk by. They got off at 1500 and of course did the walk to the pavillion and set up shop. I was on the bus again last night going out and here they all came again. They were there about 10 hours taking up the place like they own it. He said he is aware and is working on the problem. He also said he's been with the co. for a while and he's not a pixie dust manager. We'll see. He did say the yellow cart that is driving around looking for people breaking rules is going to be a 24 hour thing. He said too many parents go to bed and leave the older kids to do whatever. Evidently some of his claiming he's not a pixie duster is true because on strike 3 he said he's had OCSO evict people from the campground no matter how many days they had left to stay. I'm really hoping it's true. He said he knows the reputation of the 2000 loop (which is where I saw him) is supposedly a party palace and that's also coming to a stop. He had security in there Saturday night sitting at a site where warnings were given. He said some peeps wanting to party all night had some confrontation with guests who were sleeping. We'll see how it goes. He said Doug Lord and WDW has given him the green light to stop letting people breaking rules. Another thing being enforced is the parking on grass at sites. He said if 2 cars can fit with all tires on the cement he's ok but if they can't they get 2 warnings and the OCSO escorts a tow truck in. He said it has been done a half dozen times already. Haven't heard all this from anybody but if you have seen it let us know.
campingpixi 11
wow did not know that people were really that rude!! They should at least set up a rule where you can only be at the pavillion for no more then 2 hours!
H in SC 85
Good news and info Donnie, I hope they do crack down. Esp. people coming from off site to use the pool. :rofl2:
HillBillyWhisperer 20
Well, I guess we will see if he keeps his word. Can't be that hard to ask people at the pool or pavillion for a Fort Resort ID card. If they don't have one then go get it or please leave and escort them out.
campingpixi 11
wait I remeber that it was not long ago that they were bitchen about the fort guests using the wilderness lodge pool!! Otter Spotter aka Debbie 58
My suspicion is that the target is going to be very large groups of people that get rowdy & draw attention to themselves because of the rowdiness. People that obey the rules and behave themselves will most likely be left alone.I understand all the fun and frivolity of people getting together to have a good time - and have been in the middle of a few rowdy parties. However, our GG's never went into the wee hours of the morning & when "quiet time" arrived, we were all passed out!! (mostly due to otters bringing us all beer, jello shots & kungaloosh)

stefa70 205
I can't vouch for the pool situation as I don't use the pool, but the parking at sites is ridiculous. Everytime we see three cars parked sideways, backwards, every which way, we say "That wouldn't have happened when Brian was here!!!"

AuburnJen 777
What got me in the past is that the popo would come after our GG's because they associated our large group with trouble, when there was no trouble to be had. There were other carts, similar to ours (with nitros, none the less) that were causing the trouble. They would come and bother the hell out of us just because we were all in the middle of the street talking.
SCTigerCock 171
I apologize if this has been discussed before, BUT:When were the return gates removed from the front? Why?I know the Poly gives timed passes when we drive over to Knoa Cafe for breakfast. "Assuming" this is to prevent people parking for the day there. The contemporary did the same thing when they had the arcade/fun center before the Wave took its place. So all that rambling to ask why did they losen access to the Fort? I want to say the return gates were there in May 2001, so it must have been post 9/11. And that dosen't make any since. losen security post 9/11? I'm confused. :-\

Stupid question, but is the 2000 loop the group tent camping loop? It is not a stupid question and no, it is not the group camping loop. It is one of the partial loops and it is located next to the group camping. However, it has gained a very unhealthy reputation for partying recently. I have witnessed it. None too pretty I must admit.
MicknMin...Holly 54
Oh okay. We had trouble back in October with a big group in the big tent camping area, so I thought maybe this was the same place. I hate that the "problem" people are ruining things for the rest of us. campingmommy aka Kelli 7
I saw the same thing happen last Memorial Day weekend...several people got on the bus after parking their car up front and rode it to the pool...coolers and other accessories in hand. I know darn well they weren't campers!would it be hard for them to put a swipe card thingy at the pool entrance so you'd get no admittance without it?
