RowdyPiper 0
Hey All! We will eventually be going from Clifton to the great magical maze of WDW in our pre-owned Keystone. Going the old-fashioned route of wanting to use a map/trip tix to plan our first camper trip, what are some sites to see on the way down south? When I was younger, going to Myrtle Beach, I remember a pretty cool and huge variety store called J-R's I believe. Wish I knew exactly where it was- would've loved to go back and pick up the Dale Earnhardt Sr. sunglasses they had in the shop. Any input is appreciated.
h2odivers...Ray 952
I wish I could help but we always fly to WDW. I just wanted to say welcome and I'm sure you'll have a plethora of answers soon.
dblr....Rennie 224
J-R is still on the way, right off I95, you will see signs for it just like South of the Border. If time I would stop at St. Augustine, we stayed at Anastasia State Park, nice campground but just water & electric with dump on the way out.
parrothead7368 aka Norm 101
JR's is no longer a variety store, it is now just a cigar/smoke outlet, BTW it's Exit 97 in NC.
BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
South of the Border is always good if only for the spectacle of it all - and counting down the billboards from 100 miles away. LOL There's a stretch of outlet stores off 95 in the Carolinas if you're up for some shopping. We generally power through to get there as soon as possible, but on our list of "someday when we have more time" are anywhere in Maryland we can eat a ton of crab, Charleston, Savannah, and St. Augustine. RowdyPiper 0
Cool beans! As an update, we will be leaving July 4 and stopping in Charlotte- wife wants to see a Barenaked Ladies concert. We will hit up the Nascar Hall of Fame then continue to WDW on July 6. RowdyPiper 0
Very excited at this point as we leave in a few days. Any last-minute tips?
DinDavie 37
I suggest that you try to have a few camp grounds picked out ahead of time and then call around noon the day of your arrival to make a reservation. It is busy on I-95 on that weekend.
RowdyPiper 0
We have two sites booked already... Looking at stops on the way back north.
DinDavie 37
When you get back could you advise me about how you drive went. I travel to Caldwell often and avoid I-95 by going up I 81. I-95 is 77 miles shorter in distance but driving thought the DC area was always a nightmare. How did it go for you?
