AuburnJen 777
http://www.chipandco.com/verizon-considering-disney-takeover-274141/ Quote The Wall Street rumor mill was swirling last week with the news that Verizon Communications may be considering a takeover of Walt Disney Co. This is a result of a piece that ran in the New York Post on Saturday. According to the report, Verizon has already purchased both AOL and Yahoo as a part of a broader plan to improve their content offerings putting them on equal footing with AT&T (who similarly has its sights set on Time Warner.) However, the rumor has been met with much skepticism from Wall Street insiders who argue that the money needed by Verizon to make such a deal would require them taking an a huge level of debt. It has also been suggested that though there are portions of Walt Disney Co that would be particularly appealing to Verizon (namely ABC, ESPN, Pixar, and Star Wars) the company would have little interest in acquiring the theme parks both in the States and abroad. Another counter to this is that rumors have also been circulating that Disney is looking to make acquisitions of its own including a potential buyout of Netflix Inc. which boasts both a large distribution network and a massive library of digital content.
