bdm 47
My wife would commit me to a mental ward if I said i was going to spend hard earned money on a busted trailer and fix it up. The work is looking really good and you'll save a ton of money fixing a totaled trailer.

The work is looking really good and you'll save a ton of money fixing a totaled trailer. Thanks. I got into it for about 1/3 of used retail so I'll be ok on it. This is my 5th RV repair purchase, though it is the worst. I've been doing a ton of work on it and got all of the ceiling up, trim, lighting, ac vents, put a TV mount in the bedroom, repaired some nicks and damage on the interior and put some new shower fixture parts together. Still need to do the actual roof, hoping to get on it this weekeend. I just need 1 dry day over 50 degrees for the glue to function. In Pittsburgh, that's less likely than getting a Fort rezzie on Thanksgiving. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
keith_h 420
Starting to look good. I have to hand it to you. It is a lot more project than I would have taken on.

PGHFiend 140
Thanks everyone. I'm getting close but I really need the weather to shape up to finish before the big trip! More to come.
PGHFiend 140
Finally got a chance to pull the tarp off! I'm not joking when I say that it nas been a solid month of precipitation or well sub freezing temps. Even at that, I only had about 5 hours before a 2.5 inch snowfall was expected (and came). I got a chance to see what really happened to this thing. I can definitely say they hit a low underpass as the tv antenna was pushed back in a straight line about 2 feet. I took all of the vents off and took inventory for wood. I bought 4 sheets of OSB last night and hope to get it changed out today. When the snow started, I went inside and made 6 valances to replace the missing ones. We bought batting and some vinyl that matches the couch and I went to town. I hope to get this thing buttoned up this week, then get the new tires put on and begin to test all of the plumbing and such. I'm really looking forward to the final clean up and to give it a much needed bath. More to come.....Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk fladogfan aka Gretchen

PGHFiend 140
Wow!! Excited to see the final product!! The amount of work that you're doing...amazing!Got the roof on! In a windstorm! Took me about 5 hours the other day....it hit 74 here with sun, after that day, rain forecasted for the next 5 days so I had to do it. Took everything I had not to cry when I put down the glue and rolled out the rubber and then 20mph wind gusts started out of nowhere. I was actually laying on the rubber to hold it down! What a comedy show.....anyway I only put the new roof on a little over half of the rig. I figured I'd just get it on the road for now, and the roof is only 2 years old anyway. Here's some pics of how it turned out. Next order is to fix some of the cabinet doors that got damaged. djsamuel
bhall 115
I'd be curious as to what the rig will weigh after the rebuild since you're using much superior materials for this project.

I don't think I used anything too different. I added about 50 lbs of wood, fixing the trusses but everything else is the same.

Just thinking when you sell it down the road if it makes it harder or not. Great work, probably built better then when new.

That day was 25 degrees and rose to around 35 and the finished roof was a 74 degree day 3 days later. Either way we've had one of the coldest, snowiest winters and officially the rainiest February on record. Not exactly good outdoor project weather.
PGHFiend 140
Ok.......thanks all for sticking with this thread since the beginning. I'd say I'm 95 percent complete and only have some minor issues to take care of.....that and to get some wax on this thing. I got 4 new Goodyears installed and took care of the bearings and seals over the last few days. Last thing is to check the plumbing and hot water tank but I'm confident they will work fine. See you at the Fort!!Here's the photo debut for your viewing pleasure!Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk fladogfan aka Gretchen
