PHOTOS - Opening day at the newly expanded LEGO Imagination CenterApr 19, 2011The newly expanded LEGO Imagination Center opened today after several months of refurbishment aimed at expanded its retail space by 3500 sq ft. Along with the extra space, the building has an all new exterior complete with brand new LEGO sculptures of some Disney characters, including Buzz Lightyear, Woody, and Snow White.The exterior was still being worked on today, but the interior space is now open for business, and the temporary store near to Earl of Sandwich is now closed. Lou... 3,118 Posted May 3, 2011 Report Share Posted May 3, 2011 I doubt that they are built on site. There is some high level engineering required to build those huge figures. Their is a steel framework inside in order to support the overall structure and all of the LEGOs have to be glued in place. I'm not sure that I'd want that job though. It must be very tedious.With 5 parks and numerous stores world wide to support, I suspect there is a character building department somewhere that supplies the characters for all the locations.An interesting fact about the LEGO company, which has 9000 employees and is located in Denmark, is that it's still family owned.
