AuburnJen 777
Here is the latest news about the backstory for the AK attraction to open this spring. http://www.chipandco.com/new-website-pandora-experience-animal-kingdom-launches-259223/ Following the news that Pandora- World of Avatar Land will open this May, a new website has been launched that allows guests to fully immerse themselves in the backstory of the new attraction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. In true Disney fashion, the website fully immerses guests in the world of Pandora, and leads the guest to believe that they are on an expedition tour with Alpha Centauri Expeditions where they can explore the Valley of Mo’ara, ride a raft down the Kaspavan River, and even take flight on the back of a mountain banshee. You can explore the new SCE website yourself at visitpandora.com before your next visit to Disney’s Animal Kingdom to explore the new Pandora- World of Avatar yourself. article credit: chipandco.com

DaveInTN 3,247
Are there only two attractions, a restaurant and a gift shop?
mouseketab.....Carol 1,261
Looks like, but that seems about right. Pretty much the same thing for New Fantasyland.... Two attractions (1 pretty lame at that), 1 character experience, and a restaurant. Yep, Mickey's toontown was revamped, but nothing completely new there This is a "land" not a new park.... That's the magical pattern. Same deal with Toy Story Land and Star Wars Land. And let's not forget that they are all replacing other attractions, so little or no net gain on things to do in the parks. TCD

I get that, but I guess I expected there'd be 3 or 4 things to do here. They've been working on this for how long?

Specularius 102
So who are the team members of The ACE Team? Who is Jim Phillips? Are these people of importance at Disney?
Specularius 102
OK, I googled Jim, he is a world renowned skate board artist that is now working for Disney.

LOL. Surely those are just fake characters that they created for the backstory. They're not real people, are they? TCD
Specularius 102
With Disney's record of name placement in other attractions, I believe these people to be on the design team.

mouseketab.....Carol 1,261
Possibly, or is there some type of video pre-show and these are the actors in that pre-show?

I think that's correct too. The names might be those of imagineers. When we were at the D23 convention in 2015, they had a big model of Pandora, and a video which was like a commercial for Alpha Centauri Expeditions. The idea was that this company was offering trips to Pandora for earth people. As we know from the movie, the original earthlings who visited Pandora were there to take all the unobtainium and they did a lot of damage to the giant blue people and their environment. The ACE tours are eco-friendly, and these characters on the website are probably people that we will see when we ride the attractions. TCD
