Thanks to wdwnewstoday (wdwnt.com) for this breaking story.  They are on display.  If you are at the event, please post what you think of it!  Apparently they have all the new ways they are planning to have them available.

This is an eyewitness account from my very dear friend Arthur Lyons.  Several of you also know him.  He is a regular on many of the FB Disney boards.  He has one of the puck bands and here is his opinion.  I can't wait to get mine just because they are different and I can say, yeah, I have it.  lol

I have been bombarded with questions about the new Magicband 2s. so some blanket answers:

1. The new bands have not been released yet and will be soon.
2. They fit well and I don't feel they are too "bulky". They do indeed have the new softer material of the more recent generation 1 bands. They don't slide around on your wrist so the Mickey icon stays centered.
3. The old bands will indeed be phased out completely, but any of the old bands that you have will work for the rest of their battery shelf life.
4. The center "puck" of the new bands are removeable, and the new bands come with a small screwdriver to remove them and place them into a different colored band or one of the new fobs. The pucks have the color of the band they come with, so they will not color match a different colored band.

I can see the kids, and some adults, loving the mix and match part.
