Agreed. All businesses have to balance investment with profits, gaining future customers without losing existing customers. It seems like lately Disney is taking its parks and its existing customers for granted and concentrating on maximizing short term gains. They have gotten away with that relative neglect so far because the demand for the parks is so deep. The question is how long can they do that? I am hoping the company pendulum eventually swings back to another period of park expansion soon. Who knows, maybe this is a distraction and they are secretly scouting land on the Gulf Coast of Texas.... keith_h
keith_h 420
I don't see it as a good fit. There are better ways for Disney to develop their streaming business than Twitter. Also many of these purchases are based on the new company keeping the development talent that comes with the product. Many of those folks leave shortly thereafter due to culture clashes, cashing out options or to start something new. In the end they have the product but not the folks that made it what it is so it slowly dies. If Disney doesn't care so much about the product and is looking at the brand $20B is a lot of money for something that is really nothing. Avatab.... Steve
keith_h 420
Missed this when first reading the linked article, " Twitter Chief Executive Jack Dorsey is on Disney’s board of directors. " Since Twitter has had nothing but losses since its began this might explain the Disney involvement.
