There’s nothing like being outdoors. One of the happiest memories of my childhood with my grandparents and family was when we were out in nature. Life seems to have a different pace, specially if you are on vacation, right? And incredibly enough right here at Walt Disney World Resort you can experience a magical grand adventure at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. Check out the beautiful surroundings and fun family day on this video, and please share your happiest outdoors childhood memories with us!

So tell me how do I go about booking that private campfire with chip and dale???????

I feel an urge to go post a comment

If you do, you should also express your happiness at seeing that they are letting guests fish from the banks of the Fishin' Hole, instead of all having to cram in on the dock.

The photo was taken at the 3000 loop, where one on one interaction with Chip and Dale happens nightly.  Reserve your spot today.  Send one dollar, cash only, to FWGuy.

For those 21 and over, one on one interactions of another variety happen nightly at Mickey's Backyard Massage Parlor and Casino, conveniently located next to the 3000 loop.

Oh it's there....Beckers was being sarcastic, and one of the Mom's Panel ladies thought she was being serious.   Lol

What? Me? Sarcastic?? You must have me confused with someone else!

I wanted to book it so my mom and I could have a magical moment as we exit the camper and she tells me how proud of me for raising my kids!

Since when do Chip and Dale go anywhere near the campfires or hang out with a family?

I have to say that on both my family trips, this did happen.  In 2010, my kids got to play kickball with Chip and Dale.  We were the only ones in the area at the time, so they played with just us.  In 2014, there was one other couple at the campfire are when we played a trivia game with them.  We beat them and won a s'mores kit. :D

I have also always seen them come out during the campfire and sign autographs and go around to meet all the kids.

We've always seen them come out during the sing along then walk and greet campers, sign autographs and pose for pictures.  But I've never seen them get anywhere near a campfire (try calming your traumatized kids as Chip is running around the site in flames) and just sitting and hanging with a family...most family pictures usually have 20 strangers in them with your kids.

I know this is just a pr shot, but if someone has never been to the fort they are going to be a little disappointed.

You hit the nail on the head- of course there is fishing and a campfire with chipmunks at the Fort, but the actual experiences are nothing like depicted in the video.

It's typical marketing....making the product look like something extraordinary and must-have.

The last time I opened a beer, a gaggle of bikini clad ladies didn't suddenly appear by my side.

When I drive to work, the traffic doesn't part in front of me so I can zoom down the highway with my sunroof open, hair (what little is left) blowing in the wind.

And when I view the fireworks on Main Street USA, I don't have a private viewing spot with my little girl on my shoulders holding a Mickey balloon and no one else in view.  Not by a long shot.

I know.

You're right.

It's just like that nice Fort Wilderness blanket I have that shows Cinderella Castle looming over the Fort, and canoes in the canal at night.  It's a romanticized version of what is really there.

The thing about the blog, though, is that it's not a TV commercial where we know that artistic licenses are taken.

And, for what it's worth, the Disney propaganda machine is not backing down on this- just this morning they slapped a 19 second version of the video on Twitter:

The internet and popular use of social media has changed all that and even us as consumers. Instead of marketing viewing technology as the perfect tool to learn their customers, customers use the media to seek out the marketers. You are correct in suggesting that they have to make something a must-have or extraordinary to sell the product. Nonetheless, the current marketing techniques offer this must-have or extraordinary product in a subtle way or humorous way (i.e., beer and the gaggle of bikini clad ladies); with a few exceptions. Now the consumer controls the message and honestly/authenticity is of the utmost value. It's not just for legal reasons that vehicle commercial offer the popular caption, "Professional driver on a closed course." To the consumer, the message is corny without it.

IMHO, I expect more from Disney. It would have been just as easy and as effective to produce a video with a more authentic experience. In light of the recent tragedy, my wife reminded me of an old advertising picture from our Travel agent prior to our Honeymoon of a couple wading on the shoreline at the Grand Floridian.
