Travisma 1,317
Living a little over an hour away, quick weekend trips have been the norm with our APs. My daughter in Minneapolis likes to fly down and go to the parks at least once a month, so this months trip was this past weekend. I had posted in another thread that my wife and I were staying at the new Springhill Suites at 429 and Western Way so check that out for our thoughts on the hotel. Our Tampa daughter wanted to go to AK so that was our first stop Saturday morning. We met up with our Orlando and Minneapolis daughters over there. We had to park pretty far back even at 10:15, but we got a space at the end of the row right next to the tram stop. SCORE! Mandatory snack time. They hadn't eaten in a whole hour! My backpack ice chest is looking pretty good. Cruisin Still moving It's hot! Hippos. Right after I shot the picture those bubbles near his tail turned brown! Not sure what was going on here. There was a woman in front of him, looked like she had a laptop or tablet. Crocs, and not the foam footwear type. Big Bird up close and personal Wart Hogs. The Safari was our third FP, so off we went to check into our hotel. Will continue our report later on when we go visit the MK. Addendum... I went to click on submit topic last night, and just as the mouse pointer made it to the box my laptop pc rebooted for a Windows 10 update. It was taking forever so I turned in. This morning I checked my post and it was gone. Tonight I resigned myself to start over, went in, made a new title, and WTF, everything was there!!! I am so overjoyed. Hope you enjoy the first installment.

djsamuel 322
The people walking across the suspension bridge are on the Wild Africa Trek. My daughter and son in law paid for my wife and I to do that last year as a Christmas gift. It is outstanding.

We also saw a group of people in that building near the Cheetah and Lion areas, looked like they were in a lecture of some sort.

They take you to different areas by walking through areas of the safari and also by a smaller more open truck. You then stop for lunch in the Savannah. At the various stops, they discuss that particular area.

Travisma 1,317
After AK we went to our hotel Springhill Suites to check in. Not that far a drive, nice new (3 months old) place. After unpacking we went down to relax at the pool for a while. Then we had dinner poolside. Our daughters texted and said they were heading over to the MK, so it was time to head upstairs and get dressed. We lucked out again parking. We were quite a ways back in heros, but our space was only 3 in from the tram line. We met up and while my granddaughter was at the dance party my wife and I rode the People Mover. After the ride we all met up and took a ride on the train over to Adventureland. One daughter and granddaughter headed over to the gift shop at the Pirates. The rest of us headed over to the greatest attraction in the MK by far! Now if you don't enjoy CBJ, these next few photos are going to bore you... The finale came much too soon. We hadn't done any fast passes, so we were just playing it by ear. We headed over towards the castle courtyard. The kids all headed to the teacups, and we headed towards the Main Street Ice Cream Parlor. It was still hot at 9:00, and they all wanted to go to the Disney Outlet, so we all headed out. Took a picture from the tram of the moon and either a bright star to the right or a planet. not sure where the blue dot came from. That's it for our first day/night. EPCOT was scheduled for Sunday. caveat lector 181
Not a fan of CBJ, but am a huge fan 9f your photos. I like the people mover. When the kids were younger it was a very "looked forward to" break in the non stop action
Travisma 1,317
Well at our age the people mover and the train are two highlights.
fladogfan aka Gretchen 259
I still call it wedway, but know what you are talking about when you say people mover. It is a very relaxing time, except for Marty's last ride with the cheer leaders. Have used it in the past, to check the lines inside Space Mountain and to just chill. Tri-Circle-D 2,059
Mark- you started this TR as I was heading out on a trip. So, I'm late to the party, but I'm all caught up. Nice job on the CMJ photos. I'm looking forward to reading about the rest of this whirlwind trip. TCD

Travisma 1,317
So we all had departed the MK, us back to the hotel, and 3 daughters and 2 granddaughters to the outlet mall. We got back to our room and it was getting close to 10 and we decided to see if we would be able to catch a glimpse of Wishes. The hotels were L shaped, and our room was at the tip of the bottom leg facing 429 and what I thought was East. 10 came and passed and I didn't see anything, until I turned more northward and there they were! We had a pretty good view considering we were only on the second floor. There was a parking light pole and a huge power pole partially blocking our view, but all in all we saw the majority of the show, and on the big blasts could even hear them inside the room. Next morning we had a great breakfast sitting outside overlooking the pool, then it was time to head out to EPCOT where we would meet up with everyone. Got another decent parking spot, this was a little further down the row from the tram line, but still not bad. Since they kids weren't at the park we decided to go to the Ellen Energy Ride to kill some time. I'm not too impressed with the Ellen bit, but it was cool inside and relaxing. We were about 20 minutes into the ride when the show stopped and the lights came up. They said there was a problem and to stay in our seats and wait to be escorted out. Someone asked a CM what was going on, and he said that a visitor decided to get off the ride while it was in motion after being told repeatedly not to. It was implied that they got injured. We didn't see anything with our group of cars. Do they have more than one set running ? They hustled us out, and we went over to the old Future World to look at the shops and flowers When we left and tried to head back thru the side door of Innovations but they wouldn't let us anywhere near the Ellen Pavilion. There were CMs all over the place intercepting guests. More to come...

No, we never heard anything more about it. We were in the exhibit hall for more than a 1/2 hour and they were still blocking off that entire area when we came out. But you never can tell, it could've been something minor, or a major problem. One thing Disney is good at is keeping up a good appearance

Travisma 1,317
Well I don't know how to break the news, but that was the highlight of our EPCOT visit. We had planned on just staying in Futureworld due to the heat and my 1 daughter having to fly back to Minneapolis. We had a fast pass for Turtle Talk then we headed to The Land for a nice relaxing boat ride. After grabbing something to eat we went and got our Passholder print then said goodbye to WDW. Not as impressive as some other TRs, but we still had a great time.

Tri-Circle-D 2,059
Nice job on the Trip Report, Mark. Reading reports like this really make me think when booking on-site room reservations. It sounds like y'all had a great trip and spent a lot less than it would have cost to stay in a Disney resort. TCD
