Kdeg 0 Posted April 12, 2016 Report Share Posted April 12, 2016 We will be staying in a cabin this August. It will be our first time. We have a five year old and our triplets will be 20 months. How is the walk to the ferry and how dusty is it since it is a campground? We needed a resort where we didn't have to do the buses everyday because we need our hands for our kids. We stayed at Art of Animation in December and the buses were a joke for us. Not accommodating at all. Quote Link to post Share on other sites
CCIntrigue...aka Gwen 547 Posted April 12, 2016 Report Share Posted April 12, 2016 All the roads in the campground are paved, so it definitely isn't dusty. There isn't a "ferry" at the Fort. A large boat will take you to the Magic Kingdom. Transportation to the other parks is by a bus. Internal buses will come by your loop to take you to the Settlement (where you catch the boat to the MK) and to the Outpost (where you catch the bus to the other parks, plus Disney Springs and the water parks). The walk to the Outpost wouldn't be too bad from the cabins, but it will be well over a half mile to the marina to catch the Magic Kingdom boat. But the kids will love the Fort! As Gwen indicated, the walk to the marina from your cabin could be a hike, but it is nice and shaded under beautiful trees and can be lots of fun. Also, you can get to three of the four parks without a bus, but it will take time. You can take the boat to Magic Kingdom. From Magic Kingdom, you can then take the monorail to TTC, then switch monorails and get to Epcot. You'll need to have park hopper capabilities to be able to go through Epcot to get to Hollywood Studios. As well as other convenience locations around the Fort. Also bike racks (maybe not to convenient with triplets ). We strap car seats on the rear seat of our golf cart for two of ours who need such support. Do you use a triple stroller, by any chance? Also, the term "ferry" at WDW refers to the large two story ferryboat that runs between the Ticket and Transportation Center (TTC) and the dock at the magic Kingdom (MK) across Seven Seas Lagoon. Other, smaller boats runs to resort locations on Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon and to the MK. And big WELCOME to our big happy and often snarky family. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Second...August will be HOT and you have 4 babies (which means you'll be tired from walking), so I would agree with Kelly and say rent a cart if you can afford it except, I'm not sure how you would (logistically) work that. With only 2 adults, I don't know that you'll have enough hands to drive the cart, secure your stroller and safely hold the babies. Is there one park that you'll visit more than the others? Our kiddos are 9 and 4 and we've been bringing them both since under the age of one and (so far) a majority of our time is spent at the Magic Kingdom. We'll spend a few hours at the other parks, but we'll spend a few days at the MK. If this is the same with y 'all, I would fax in a request to The Fort (about 10 days before your trip) and BEG for a cabin in the 100 loop. This would put you super close to the marina (boat to the MK) and not far from the bus depot for the other parks. Plus there is a nice playground in that area and Trails End (you need to eat breakfast there ?). Disney will not guarantee a site or loop, but I'm guessing if you explain your wonderfully full hands, they'll do their best to accommodate you. Have a a magical trip!!
