jrbdad 3
Looking for places that people have stayed at and liked. Leaving from the Richmond VA area and hoping to get within 5 1/2 hours of for ( Leaving in afternoon). Would like pull though that I don't have to unhook and easy access to and from freeway. If anyone knows of safe place( Walmart, etc) to stop in that area would like to hear about that too. Cracker barrel's don't usually don't have enough room. ( Ford Excursion with 36ft trailer, 55ft overall) Any experience with Point South KOA, or Camp Lake Jasper?
CCIntrigue...aka Gwen 547
We always stop at either FJ or Cracker Barrels. At CB we don't use the RV spaces because of our length. We park parallel to a curb.
Katman1356...Jason 1,140
Not much help here as we always hotel it but we will be stopping in Richmond on our way to the Fort this weekend. I will wave hi!
ependydad...Doug 176
We stayed at the Walmart in Dillon, SC. Nice sized level lot. We called ahead and they were as friendly as could be. We were one of a handful of RVs last December.
CJHokie 43
We have stopped in Darien, GA at Inland Harbor RV park. Maps says it's 4.5, so may be too far for you. But it was right off the interstate, all pull through.
jrbdad 3
Where are you stopping Jason? Thanks for the input. I will look into the Dillon Walmart.
jrbdad 3
Will need to get farther south then Dillon before stopping for the night. Wanting to get up in AM and make it to Fort by 1pm check in.
Katman1356...Jason 1,140
Where are you stopping Jason? Thanks for the input. I will look into the Dillon Walmart. The Red Roof inn just off 95. We have stayed there before. It's easy off and on the highway and cheap but clean. We'll only be there about 5 hours.
jrbdad 3
How bout Walmart Walterboro S.C.? Anyone overnight here?
CCIntrigue...aka Gwen 547
We usually overnight at CB in Walterboro on the way home. Park parallel to the curb. Nice, level lot. Easy off and on 95. Yes, we do hear the traffic from the interstate, but it doesn't bother us. And we have a nice "front yard."
jrbdad 3
Jason, Safe travel this weekend. Will be wet and foggy coming through VA. Gwen, I looked at that Cracker Barrel. With only one way in or out and size of the lot not sure It would be good idea for us. Would be worried that if we showed and they were busy we would not have a place to park. But with it being the next exit from Walmart we may check it out.
jrbdad 3
Looks like we are going to plan on stopping at Walmart. Depending on how we feel either Walterboro, SC, Hardeeville, SC or Savannah GA.Would like to make Hardeeville or even Savannah GA so we can get checked in earlier the next day. Avatab.... Steve 124
New Green Acres is in Walterboro. Nice stopover, long pull thrus and right off the highway. They also have after-hours check-in and I can't remember them ever being full-up. http://www.newgreenacres.com/index.html TN22.....Brady
jrbdad 3
We have looked into New Green Acres and a few others in the area. We would like to get as far as we can the first night. Will only be stopping to get some sleep then get back on road first thing. So we aren't going to make any reservations. Just going to hit the road and if we get to a point we want to stop and it is early we will call and see if we can get a site. If it is late then we hit the closest Walmart. disneylitch......Debbie 61
If you want to go further, stop at Jacksonville North / St. Marys KOA. It is on the Georgia/Florida border. We drive it from northern Maryland. They have free pancakes and waffles for breakfast. My husband loves the pancakes and I love the waffles. They make the batter from scratch. Believe it or not, we drive there for the breakfast. The owners are great and you are personally escorted to you site, even at 10:00 at night. TN22.....Brady
tim5055 120
I'm with Debbie about pushing on if you can- If you can push on another 90 minutes or so the Florida Welcome Center is a great place to stop. I have an F-250 with a 35' trailer and they have a great lot away form the traffic noise.

They both have clean hot showers, both easy on and off, and are nice and quiet. The best thing is that they both have after hours kiosks that list the open sites and let you sign in late and leave early if you like. As noted above we haven't seen New Green Acres fill up completely but we have seen the KOA full when it's snowbird migration season When that happened we just went up the road an exit or two to a Walmart lot IIRC. But I sure did miss that hot shower during the next day's driving......
jrbdad 3
We probably won't leave Virginia until 2pm, so I am not sure that making it all the way to Florida Thursday night will be an option (with gas stops probably about 10-10.5 hours). But If we can get on the road earlier I will look into St Marys or the Welcome Center. Hoping not to get too tired before we get there.
Momof6....aka Marty 769
I wish I lived closer to 95! It would be great to have a place where Fiends could overnight on their way north and south. fladogfan aka Gretchen
jrbdad 3
Looks like we are going to leave in AM so made reservation at KOA St Marys on way down and KOA in Yessamme on way home.
