Tri-Circle-D 2,059
To save everyone a click, here's what it says: As we previously announced, new experiences like the “Rivers of Light” and Kilimanjaro Safaris are planned to debut at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in 2016. Today, we’re thrilled to share a first look at another new addition to the park that is sure to please guests – Tiffins restaurant.Tiffins will celebrate the art of traveling, featuring a diverse menu drawing from places that inspired the creation of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Open for both lunch and dinner, Tiffins will also include waterfront views from comfortable indoor and outdoor seating areas. And if you’re wondering about the story behind the name, “tiffin” is an Indian English word for a midday meal or a type of container used to carry food while traveling. So, what do you think? Will you add Tiffins to your must-do list for 2016? The headline calls it a Signature restaurant. And they say there will be waterfront views. Where the heck is this going to be? Where the heck is this going to be? TCD Good question! Maybe they're going to cut into some of that waterfront seating out behind Flame Tree? I can't think of where else there might be room for something like this along the water.
Tri-Circle-D 2,059
Thanks TCD. On my phone so limited on what I can easily do. Do you have any idea where this is going to be in the park? Where could they offer waterfront views. The only place I can thing of is if they took over Flametree BBQ, but I can't see that happening. Places such as California Grill, Artists Point, and the Le Cellier are all Signature. As Carol said two credits on dining plan or $$$$ Thanks, I found a list of them on the official Disney site. So, there has never been a Signature restaurant in Animal Kingdom. It doesn't sound like Pizzafari would be the place for this. But, I don't know where else it could go. Katman1356...Jason 1,140
I spotted this on another page. http://www.disneyaddicts.com/top-5-disney-dining-changes-coming-to-walt-disney-world-5307/ Buried in their top 5 dining changes was this entry. Tiffins Table Service Restaurant – This Signature dining experience is set to open at Animal Kingdom in Spring 2016. Serving lunch and dinner, this restaurant will be located in the back of the building that houses Pizzafari, and will have both indoor and outdoor seating, typical for most eateries at Animal Kingdom. Speculation suggests that because this is being referred to as a Signature dining location, cost will be higher, and may require 2 table service credits when using the Disney Dining Plan. Tri-Circle-D 2,059
The Orange County Property Appraiser recently posted the annual aerial photos for the county. These show the construction projects underway at Animal Kingdom in late 2015. Here's an overview that I have marked with some familiar landmarks: If we take a closer look, there is definitely a construction project going on behind Pizzafari: I guess that ditch is going to provide the water views for Tiffin's. BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
Theme Park Tourist has posted an article about what to expect (including some speculation) when Tiffin's opens... Quote 4 Things You MUST Know Before Booking Reservations at Walt Disney World's Major New Restaurant Submitted by Amanda Kondolojy on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 05:35 There's still no opening date for Tiffins, the still-under construction restaurant coming to Disney's Animal Kingdom later this year. However, it looks like Disney is now making preparations for guests to make their first reservations for this restaurant, as as an official "coming soon" page has been put online (which you can check out here). While it will probably still be a few months before this table service dining location opens, it's likely that reservations both for regular service as well as the rumored Rivers of Light dining packages will be available well before this establishment opens its doors. However, if you are thinking about making reservations for this restaurant (when they become available), there are some things you should definitely be aware of first. BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
More from Disney Parks Blog... Quote Thu, March 31, 2016 More Details About Tiffins, the Newest Dining Experience At Walt Disney World Resort by Pam Brandon, Food Writer, Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort The newest Walt Disney World table-service restaurant is part of the biggest expansion in the history of Disney’s Animal Kingdom – Tiffins, in the park’s Discovery Island area, opens this summer with dishes inspired by the world travels of the park’s creators. “Tiffin” is the Indian word for a lunchbox used by travelers (also a mid-day meal), and the 252-seat restaurant in the park’s Discovery Island area will open daily for lunch and dinner with menus that takes diners to Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas. A detailed map within the restaurant’s entryway sets the stage for an immersive dining experience celebrating world travel, with bold artwork derived from sketches, journals and research from those who created the theme park. “Tiffins is the signature restaurant at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, celebrating the culture of design and research that went into creating this unique park,” said Emily O’Brien, Walt Disney Imagineering executive show producer for Disney’s Animal Kingdom. O’Brien describes the interior design as “a gallery you can dine in with artwork that is a direct result of travels to Africa, Asia and South America which influenced the design of the park.” The ideas of the park’s design team, including sketches, photography, architecture and textures, are all presented in a way that is uniquely Disney. “All the senses are explored and turned into amazing works of art,” said O’Brien. “The galleries, or dining rooms, focus on Asia [Trek Gallery with 74 seats] and Africa [Safari Gallery with 64 seats], and the third [Grand Gallery with 114 seats] pays homage to animal species that the Disney Conservation Fund works to protect.” The travel-inspired artwork includes a static, three-dimensional piece that features prayer flags blowing in the wind. “As our research team traveled up the high mountains of Nepal, the winds were strong,” explained O’Brien. “The prayer flags are rarely seen hanging, they are always blowing.” This portrayal of the motion is realistically captured in the display which will hang above a corner booth in the Trek Gallery. “Tiffins is not about a make-believe place, it’s about real people and places,” said O’Brien. Disney’s Animal Kingdom is about the intrinsic value of nature, transformation through adventure and a personal call to action, and the adjacent Nomad Lounge brings into focus these core values. With beautiful waterfront views, the lounge focuses on storytelling, and also on guests’ travels, with large banners as “artistic representations” of answers to travel questions written on the perimeter wall. For instance, “what do you always do when traveling” or “what was your most adventurous moment?” “We’re trying to tell the story of how guests can make a change,” said O’Brien. While the answers of Disney experts are displayed, guests also have the opportunity to purchase a tag that supports the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund and to write their own answers to the questions to display above the bar– a way to share their own travel stories “so they can be a part of the story,” said O’Brien. Quote Tue, April 5, 2016 Tiffins Inventive Menu Stars Cuisine From Around the Globe, Wine List Focuses on ‘Environmentality’ by Pam Brandon, Food Writer, Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort Tiffins, the newest restaurant in the Discovery Island area of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, opens this summer, and the Disney chefs have been hard at work to create inventive dishes inspired by the world travels of the park’s creators. From the familiar to something new, the menu offers something for everyone – from a berbere-spiced lamb chop to a New York strip steak or beef short rib with potatoes. Starters include a Lobster-Popcorn Thai Curry Soup with Basil and Peanuts (Asia/Africa) to marinated grilled octopus (Europe). Sustainable seasonal fish crudo (South America) and a salad of roasted baby beets and goat cheese with walnut granola and a sun-dried cherry vinaigrette Discovery Island (North America) round out international creations. Entrées include Berber-Spiced Lamb Chop with Mustard Greens, Lentil Stew and Mint Chutney (Africa); Berkshire Pork Tenderloin with Huitlacoche Tamale, Hominy Succotash and Red Mole Sauce (South America); Miso-glazed Black Cod with Forbidden Rice in Steamed Bok Choy with Turmeric Sauce (Asia), and Grilled Head-on Shrimp with Tomatoes, Roasted Fennel, Olives and Sea Urchin Butter Sauce (Europe). For vegetarians, the Roasted Market Vegetable Curry with Quinoa, Zucchini and Lime Chutney brings a taste of Asia. Beverages focus on Africa, Asia and South America, including handcrafted cocktails and beers. Non-alcoholic beverages include exotic-fruit- flavored lemonades, Asian and African premium loose-leaf teas and coffee beans from Columbia, Ethiopia, Indonesia and Tanzania. “With a focus on South American and South African wines, the beverage program is very special – we don’t have another one like it at Disney,” said Master Sommelier Brian Koziol, Food & Beverage Concept and Development director for Disney Parks & Resorts. “The program will focus on environmentality: producers that focus on sustainability, organic wines, and bio-dynamic viticulture,” he explained. “Environmentality is a core value at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and this beverage program is a great way to share that with our guests.” With 55 seats inside, and 46 seats in a covered outdoor area, Nomad Lounge offers a half- dozen small bites such as a vegetarian summer roll, a seared Wagyu beef skewer, honey-glazed coriander-spiced pork ribs, Indian butter-chicken wings, seasonal fish balls with shishito peppers and house-made head cheese and chicken liver pate with chutney. Like Tiffins, the lounge offers handcrafted cocktails with African, Asian and South American flavors, imported beers and a South American and South African wine list. Non-alcoholic beverages include exotic-fruit- flavored lemonades, Asian and African premium loose-leaf teas and coffee beans from Columbia, Ethiopia, Indonesia and Tanzania.
