WrigleysWagon 32
Hey all, My son does great on long drives, but sometimes he wants to catch a nap. It's ok for him to sleep but he always seems to slump over in his booster seat. Has anyone figured out a way to keep the kiddos up-right while still being buckled in? Thanks,Brian
Beckers 1,136
How old is he? Would using a booster with a back be practical when you go on longer drives?
Beckers 1,136
What about something like this?https://www.seatpets.com/
WrigleysWagon 32
Hey Beckers, He's 6, and currently uses a booster with a back. It works ok to keep him from sliding sideways. The problem is when he slumps forward, then he is basically out of the seatbelt, and his head is just hanging there. The seat pet is interesting, I'll have to look into that. Thanks! WrigleysWagon 32
So I remenbered if I pull the seatbelt all the way out, then let it retract, it locks the seatbelt so no slack can be let out. To unlock it, it has to be fully retracted. That might help a little, but he could still slump pretty easily. A seat pet on Amazon is around $15, may give that a shot. mouseketab.....Carol 1,261
How about an airline neck pillow on backwards, then his chin would be on the pillow?
fladogfan aka Gretchen 259
I can't see the page yet, but could you use a stuffed toy of his to give his head something to ride on? Carol's idea of the backwards neck pillow sounds good. Don't they make small ones for babies and children? Remember, Velcro is your friend!
WrigleysWagon 32
We've tried the neck pillow, it just doesn't fit well between the head protectors on the booster. It actually pushed his head further out. Fladogfan, the seat pet is basically a stuffed animal that attaches to the seat belt. I think they sell them at walgreens, we're going to check them out next time we're by there.
keith_h 420
Our kids are much, much older than 6 years old but when they were that age they were sitting in the regular seat in back and would just lean into the corner when sleeping. We did get some of those things you use to position the shoulder strap correctly for children and short people. We also always had regular pillows for them to lean into. Beckers 1,136
We've spent many of trips with someone turning around and pushing a head back, I don't know how they don't wake up with their heads hanging down.

You're not using enough duct tape, then. Tri-Circle-D

AnnaA2101 3
Try a pool noodle under the front of the car seat/booster. It will recline the seat a little.
WrigleysWagon 32
I'll give it a shot. Thanks!
WrigleysWagon 32
We got a seat pet, and tried it out on a 2 hour trip the other evening. Glad to say that so far so good. He slept pretty well in the back seat with his head rested on the pillow. No head, or body droop. We have a longer trip scheduled in Dec. Hopefully everything goes as well. Beckers 1,136
Awesome! Hope it does the trick. If not, there is always duct tape...
