Contemporary Resort: New RFID Pucks at Contempo Café

The technology behind the reservation system that has been used for years at the Be Our Guest Restaurant in Magic Kingdom Park is now also available at the Contempo Café! Just last week, RFID pucks were implemented at the quick-service dining location on the fourth floor Grand Canyon Concourse at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. These pucks have officially taken the place of the old tent card table markers that were used throughout the restaurant's dining room.

 

When an order is placed, Guests will now receive a puck; then, they will be asked to place the puck on the table top of their choice, which will allow the kitchen to know where the food needs to be delivered to.

Is this really necessary?

 

I can see using this in Be Our Guest, where they have three separate dining rooms, each of which are larger than the small seating area for Contempo Café.

 

Oh well, it's not like it's costing Disney any money- they can just raise the prices some more.  Guests will always pay.

This is only good if they figure out the whole food delivery mess. I mentioned this in a TR, but we were there one night and the order takers/cashiers were also supposed to deliver the food. There was a line of people waiting and food stacked up. The angry manager didn't help things.
