Travisma 1,317
Some people misunderstand that the right of Freedom of Speech does not protect you from the negative reactions to what you said. Any company or individual has the right to refuse service to anyone on their property so long as they demonstrate that denial of service was not a result of a persons race, religion, sexual orientation or any of the other protect classes. Sounds like the guy was just a jerk. He needs to own his jerkness and move on. But he still loves Disney "This has not taken away my love for Disney," he said. "I will not let them take that away." keith_h 420
Maybe the cops actually do know how long it takes to build a meth lab. Since most of the people in real meth labs and drug dealers are heavily armed it is safer for the police to break in while they are sleeping and catching them off guard. This is why the majority of raids are at night. If he implied some threat like going postal I could see where waiting until night would be safer too. With it being a hotel it would also be safer for guests as most will be in their rooms sleeping. I get the impression the guy is a bit of a hot head so who knows what else he said. Of course the CM just might not have liked his attitude and decided to get even. You never know.
caveat lector 181
Societal occurrences have driven us to this. People shooting up schools, theaters, churches and bombs being placed by mentally incompetent people have made it tough on the those just trying to live a law abiding life. There is now uproar about a kid that brought a homemade clock to a school. As someone that hopes to have grand kids someday, I am glad the cops and administrators over reacted. When it comes to protecting kids, I would much rather the authorities seek forgiveness than wait around for approval. Am I giving up,some precious rights, you bet. But who knows how to tell the difference between a bomb and a clock disguised as a bomb. Not me.Same applies to this guy. How do you tell the difference between a meth cooker and someone who is not. Nametags?I feel safer knowing Disney sets an example of zero tolerance. If I were a meth cooker and read this Facebook crap, it would cause me to avoid Disney altogether. Yes, but (as with most everything) there is reacting and then there is overreacting. The young boy with the clock... while I feel that the school handled it appropriately (I too would probably have thought it looked like an explosive), the police should have handled it better. Once they realized it was not an explosive, they should have let the student go. Instead they kept him handcuffed and continued to interrogate him. With this guy at Disney... I think Disney may have overacted by issuing a life-time ban. What we don't know, is how the man was acting: was he hostile, loud, threatening? Or was he simply irritated at the lack of response/action and he was shaking his head saying, "man... I could have built a meth lab by now". Odd statement? Yes. Threatening? Probably not. jmaul 65
Yes, more to the story. I can probably think of thousands of other places in the area to build a lab with much lower overhead and closer access to the clients. Banned for life? Think of the money this guy will save. Tri-Circle-D 2,059
If you have a half hour or so, this fellow has taken his plea to YouTube. He's really digging quite a hole for himself, and clearly there are some major things he's leaving out of his long winded version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9CnGu0b6KY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCXvD7yrMN4 This is all very, very strange. I don't understand why he has to give so much background, and the parts about him going to the store and then back to the front desk to ask for pillows and waving at security guards (in between smoke breaks), seems to be him trying to give his spin on what might have been some obnoxious behavior on his part. And how many times does he need to mention that he's handicapped? At the end, he says he's called a bunch of lawyers, and no one wants his case. What does that tell you? The guy scares me. I think he needs some type of counseling as he doesn't quite seem connected to things. I didn't watch the whole thing but I now see what could have triggered the raid. He claims this is all about a chemical odor in his room and he then proceeds to make a statement about building a meth lab. He is definitely not the brightest bulb in the pack. BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
At the end, he says he's called a bunch of lawyers, and no one wants his case. What does that tell you? Yep. Even in the most ridiculous cases that eventually were thrown out, people always seem to be able to find someone willing to get their face in front of a camera to plead their case against "the evil Disney" even if they probably know they'll never win. The fact that he can't find *anyone* to take up his cause says a lot. The comments on his YouTube video suggest that he's not garnering the sympathy he'd hoped. Sounds like maybe Disney didn't overreact Yep. ... I now see what could have triggered the raid. He claims this is all about a chemical odor in his room and he then proceeds to make a statement about building a meth lab. Um yeah.... it's starting to sound like there were probably a LOT of interactions with CMs, not just the one from the initial report, and that he probably said a LOT of things. And given what he admits to saying, I can only imagine all the other things he probably said. Dude... quit now and maybe, just maybe, Disney will reconsider in a few months. Keep this up and you are probably looking at that trespass order being the last "souvenir" you ever get from WDW.
mouseketab.....Carol 1,261
I've got a question. How does Disney actually truly trespass someone from the parks? I can see the resorts, and I can see not being able to have an annual pass, because you have names, and IDs, etc, etc. Yes, they've got cameras, in the parks, and security, BUT what is to stop trespassed Joe Bloe from forking out xxx number of dollars in cash, (or buying from a reseller, etc), and walking in the gate with a ticket. They don't get your name with an expiring ticket, and yes you have a finger scan, but use a different finger. I guess if you were ever caught, then at that point they could arrest you, but..... as vast as the property is, can they truly keep a person off the property.

Seals 111
It would be hard to keep someone out of the parks but if they did catch you (using a credit card and it flags your name, Magic Band, etc.) it would be a lot worse that you deliberately violated a trsspass order. Honestly, I skimmed through the videos and to me he sounds like someone who is eccentric/goofy/perhaps medicated or with some type of mental "issues". He said something stupid that he shouldn't have when he thought he was being funny while he was annoyed at being on hold for 15 minutes. And now instead of letting it sit he's obseesing about it and embarrased at the impact on his family. He mentions already being in counseling before this incident which means he' s used to analyzing all his actions. He seems extremely frustrated, especially toward the end, and that is where he maybe ventures into scary. Also, he says handicapped but he doesn't say exactly what except using a cane. I'm familiar with MS and know that sometimes the symptoms and related meds can alter personality. Just using that as an example I'm familiar with. I think that he was telling all the details to show how the different things that were separate may have been put together to make Disney suspicious of him. I don't think Disney necessarily needs to apologize, except maybe for the 15 minutes on hold. Where was Mason anyway? But I don't see barring him from the parks. Unless I missed something major in my skim watching.
Humphrey Bear…Rob 42
For a little over the past year, I've been a weekly road warrior - flying back and forth. It always amazes me how some folks think being a total A$$ and bullying airline stewardesses, TSA, etc will get them anything other than MORE grief. This guy strikes me right off the bat as one of those loudmouth better than you types that has driven a CM to their breaking point. There is joking...and then there is intimidation. Granted, he chose a poor choice of words, but Karma has a sneaky way of circling round and biting you in the butt! :wedgietariant-smiley:
BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
I guess if you were ever caught, then at that point they could arrest you I think that's probably it - something to fall back on if they DO catch you. Something tells me this guy Is going to find out. Sent from my iPhone That would be in line with the not great decisions he's made so far. ... I don't see barring him from the parks. Unless I missed something major in my skim watching. Except that we're still only hearing his side of the story, so who knows what the truth is. And I think it's unlikely we'll ever hear Disney's side. I'd imagine they don't like to feed things like this in the media. Of course the way things go these days, I expect if there's a slow news day, some news local outlet will pick this up and run with it. If it goes wide enough, then my money is on the standard line from Disney about looking out for Guest security, blah blah blah. The only way I expect we'll ever hear the other side (or sides) is if the CMs involved talk - and I'd imagine whatever went down, they've been strongly discouraged from doing that. fortpartyof4 108
This popped up on our national news coverage up here in Philly last night…I immediately thought of you guys and thought I'd share it…but of course when I logged in to post it I find it's old news here! You guys are on top of it! Some of you may recall I used to live in Jacksonville, where this story was first reported. Good ole Ken Amaro. He was the local whistle-blower, pot stirrer, alarmist. But cute as heck in his little bow tie. This cat is a moron, plain and simple. The original comment was stupid and uncalled for - for being placed on hold too long from the comfort of your room? The poor kid who had the misfortune of ending up on the phone with this idiot probably just forgot to put him on hold, or maybe the hold music didn't come on for some reason and he actually WAS on hold. I was once on hold with a CM for 2 HOURS. HOURS. In my CAR! I was annoyed but made no threats or rude comments whatsoever. His homemade video…..if you can get past his gross jiggly turkey neck where the camera/ipad is focused….is so damn ridiculous I cannot even count the stupid things he says in it. The first thing that grabbed me is that they wanted to "get out of St. Augustine to get away from the crowds for the 450th anniversary celebration". Hey, I know! Let's go to WDW on a holiday weekend…….no crowds there! Dolt. Not to mention, your children really missed out on a tremendous opportunity to be part of a great celebration of our nation's oldest city. I feel sorry for those kids. And not just because of this incident. The guy thinks he is owed something because he is a handicapped AP holder…..did I mention he is handicapped? Because he does about a dozen times in his spiel…….has he not looked around while visiting Disney? There are hundreds of other handicapped AP holders around the properties and in the parks, riding the buses…..Disney is quite accommodating and they get plenty of extra help if they need it from my observations…..he isn't owed anything! This is my favorite response…..caveat hit the nail on the head: Societal occurrences have driven us to this. People shooting up schools, theaters, churches and bombs being placed by mentally incompetent people have made it tough on the those just trying to live a law abiding life.
