BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
From WDWMagic... PHOTOS - Germany Pavilion's model railroad display in the process of an extensive refurbishment The G-Scale model railroad display at Epcot's Germany Pavilion is in the midst of a major refurbishment. Model Railroad refurbishment Over the past couple of weeks, the entire display has been stripped of all buildings and track, and this week the process of laying the new track has begun. The display has suffered from poor reliability over the past few years so a major refurbishment is a welcome update, hopefully in-time for the upcoming Epcot Food and Wine Festival. mouseketab.....Carol 1,261
That's good to see! Something like this could easily just be left to fall to pieces.
fladogfan aka Gretchen 259
Very good news!!! DH and I were hoping an up-grade was going on behind the portable bushes that are blocking the layout. He could see new track laying next to track.
Littleolwoman.aka.Kristie 119
It would be nice to see it up snd running for F&W
Timsmith7 36
They could donate it to me! I just lost about 100 feet of track and some trestles to a tree coming down on it. Thank goodness no buildings were lost. That whole endeavor waa started because of the LGB set in Germany. Glad to see it being reworked. Timsmith7 36
That is definitely out of my price range. The LGB code 332 track they are using in the Germany set runs $8-10 dollars a foot. Switches are in the $150 dollar range. Yep, mine was an expensive tree.........
BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
I wonder how quickly the weather takes its toll on this display? You have to figure the humidity especially is rough on something like this.
Timsmith7 36
The heat and UV affects more than the humidity. Just direct Ohio heat on my buildings causes warping etc and after 1 season UV fading is evident.
Travisma 1,317
UV down here is a killer on plastics, especially red. If you go to LEGOLAND, (unless they had started refurbs) a lot of the models are really shabby looking, and that was within a couple of years.
BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
From WDWMagic... The model railroad display at Epcot's Germany pavilion has reopened following an extensive refurbishment. During the closure, all of the track was replaced, with the hope of being able to consistently run trains on the display. DaveInTN 3,247
The train is cool, but I'd rather that Germany had built the river ride originally planned.
caveat lector 181
Thanks for the pics. How can you watch a model train and not smile. God stuff
