Aubreyhelene 1
We are about 2 hours from the Fort- we've been on the road since Sunday, so we are definitely ready to be there! My silly question is this: do we need to have our magic bands with us when we check in/register at the Fort?
Tri-Circle-D 2,059
You don't have to have your MagicBands with you to check in, but you will need them to get into the laundry rooms, and the comfort stations when they are locked at night. Also, to open the automated gate if you leave the campground. Why don't you have your MB's with you? TCD
Aubreyhelene 1
They are with us, but they're packed up behind all of our stuff.
Tri-Circle-D 2,059
They are with us, but they're packed up behind all of our stuff. Gotcha. You can dig them out after you check in then. TCD

mouseketab.....Carol 1,261
If you haven't registered a pin number for charging and you want to use room charging with your Magic Bands, you will need to go back to the front desk and set your PIN number with the MB. Aubreyhelene 1
Stops on the way down were great, got to eat and camp at a bunch of random places. The only downside was/is the chiggers! Holy smokes! We geocached in Ohio and it turned ugly- bumpy rash bites all over, luckily not the kids or grandparents, just me and hubby.
jmaul 65
I despise chiggers. Hoping that will be the only negative of your trip. Enjoy.

DramaMama .......... Janet 75
Enjoy your trip! May your stay be relatively bug free. Who am I kidding? Oh well, may you not be eaten alive.

Do you get those normally, just walking around the Fort.... or are they typically like ticks where you need to be walking through brush or woods?

I think Aubreyhelene got hers on the way to the Fort. Not at the Fort. I've only been bit up by chiggers once at the Fort, and that was a trip where I was doing some serious railroad spike hunting in a part of the Fort that most people never go. TCD I've gotten them walking out on the 300 dog walk along the canal. My foot blew up so much I almost couldn't get my shoe on. Never had a problem with them at the Fort otherwise. Steer clear of the spanish moss - I'm told that's one of their favorite haunts. Aubreyhelene I hope you have a terrific, chigger-free stay at the Fort! :)
Beckers 1,136
Jason and I (he got it way worse) got the crud bitten out of us in November just sitting outside. I dunno what they were but they hurt!
Aubreyhelene 1
We are here and tucked in for the night. I have to say a huge thank you to everyone that responds to these threads. Your knowledge of the the Fort and everything is really appreciated! We are camped where we requested to be, in the 1400 loop. Our site is really great, nice and private! We were really nervous that we would even get on the loop we requested, since every time my mil called they told her something different and couldn't confirm anything- pretty ridiculous! BUT we are here and are excited for a great week of Disney fun!
