FEARtheEERS 18
We are getting ready to buy a new golf cart. Most likely electric with enough seating for 4. Any advice? It is a total pain to find a good one close to where we live. We want to spend around $2,000.00, but want to be sure we get what we need and don't get something that is going to be a mess. We have thought about just waiting until we get to Florida in June to buy one...but would rather get it over with and get all set up before we go.
CCIntrigue...aka Gwen 547
At that price just be sure it has relatively new batteries. Not much else can go wrong with an electric cart. We kept one that was 20+ years old and eventually had to have some minor brake work done on it.
Specularius 102
$2000 will be tough. Most of the retired fleet cars around me sell for $2500 and have questionable batteries. For $2000 you should expect to have to buy new batteries that will cost $600-$800. I would look for a Club Car.
Starbuc71 162
I had a club car for 8 years. Bought because of the aluminum frame. When I bought my next one, I did some homework. I settled on an ex go rxv. I liked the independent front suspension, the brushless motor, the regenerative braking and the handling and speed. Granted it's not an aluminum frame, but I'm not taking it through creek beds and snow. The RXV is a very well built car in my opinion. A plain fleet one you can get for about $3000
h2odivers...Ray 952
My humble opinion. Club Car are really nice but do cost more and unless your buying one that came from a coastal area I wouldn't worry about rusting. But do check the battery box of any golf cart you buy for corrosion. $2000 is definitely doable. My buddy just bought a really nice 2004 ez go for $700. Needed new batteries $600 plus he ordered a backseat $400 I think the best place to buy a cart is at the source. A golf course. Every 3-5 years most courses get new carts. They don't buy them they lease them. But they can buy a few for their selves or their members. You really have to know someone at the course. Also members trade up their carts and sell them. Walk into your local course and check the bulletin board.

FEARtheEERS 18
I believe we have finally found one pretty close to us. It needs a back seat, but has a stereo, windshield, lights, etc. It is a 2007 I believe and looks pretty nice. I think we have lucked out. Its 2500.00.
Travisma 1,317
If the deal falls thru, there are a lot of places selling golf cars here in FL as you probably know. They have new dealerships and even used cart lots.
Specularius 102
When you need a rear seat, If you are handy, you can find for a great price here: http://www.jasonsgolfcarts.com/
bhall 115
You can check out local auctions as well. The auction I work for (Day Job) will be selling two golf carts. Gas Powered though.
stockboys10 2
If you are handy when you go to test drive the cart you should check the voltage of the batteries under load. (drive up a hill) A good set should not drop more then a volt or 2 under load.
h2odivers...Ray 952
A lady, at the golf course, is selling her ez go for $1,500. It's pretty nice with good batteries. But it might cost you a $1000 to pick it up here in Oklahoma.

h2odivers...Ray 952
That's great. Make sure the backseat you buy is made for your buggy and the holes line up with the existent holes.
FEARtheEERS 18
The guy we purchased it from also suggested springs for the rear seat as well?
h2odivers...Ray 952
The guy we purchased it from also suggested springs for the rear seat as well?I'm assuming he's talking about beefing up the existing springs. By changing them to heavier duty springs. I helped my cousin do this a few years ago. It helps but I don't think it's neccassary. Especially if your just going to have kids riding on the back.As a matter of fact I bought a set at the same time and they're still sitting in my shop.
h2odivers...Ray 952
I think the heavy duty springs I bought were $50 each and I had to buy the longer U bolts. Don't remember how much they cost.

I was thinking that's an additional 100.00 to spend after the seat.
